PlayStation has doubled down on ensuring some first-party games remain exclusive to its platform, thanks to a new branding label that has appeared on the PlayStation Store for specific games. However, a few PlayStation exclusive titles still lack the updated branding as of this writing.
The PlayStation branding update came months after Sony stated it would move away from creating PC ports of single-player PlayStation titles. Ergo, games like Ghost of Yotei and Marvel’s Wolverine would stay exclusive to PlayStation 5, despite the fact that some previous projects from developers like Sucker Punch and Insomniac Games received PC ports. PlayStation claimed that the move was made due to low PC port sales. However, multiplayer games published by Sony, such as Helldivers 2, will continue to receive multiplatform support.
PlayStation Exclusive Branding Label Appears Online
With Sony standing firm in its push toward offering first-party exclusive games, a new branding logo on PlayStation’s storefront has caught the attention of keen-eyed fans. As spotted by content creator Real Radec on Twitter, a new PlayStation Exclusive tag has started showing up on the PlayStation Store pages for titles like Ghost of Yotei: Complete Edition and Until Dawn 2. The label features PlayStation’s iconic button symbols on the left, with an asterisk at the end of the script. However, it is currently unclear what the asterisk in the PlayStation Exclusive branding points to. However, the application of the PlayStation Exclusive brand logo is inconsistent, as games that would qualify for one, such as Saros and Marvel’s Wolverine, are missing it. Ergo, it is unclear if the tag will apply retroactively to PS5-exclusive titles that are unavailable on any other platform.
Additionally, the PlayStation Exclusive logo does not appear for games that are also on PC despite being PS5 console exclusives. As such, the PlayStation Store pages for games like Phantom Blade Zero and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls do not have the exclusivity brand due to each game also being available on Steam. Since launch, Phantom Blade Zero has become one of the most successful Steam games of 2026, with over 500,000 units sold during its launch window. However, Sony has not revealed how many PS5 copies of Phantom Blade Zero have been sold so far, making it unclear how truly successful the hit game actually is.
In response, some fans compared the PlayStation Exclusive branding to Sony’s former ‘Only on PlayStation’ tagline that was included on the banners of PS3 and PS4 console exclusive titles. This label applied not only to Sony’s first-party offerings at the time, but also to third-party releases that were on PlayStation consoles, such as the first runs of JRPGs like Persona 5 and Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Since then, several titles that were first released on PlayStation consoles have been ported to other platforms, including Steam and Xbox.
Though Until Dawn 2 carries the PlayStation Exclusive branding, the upcoming PS5 exclusive Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet currently does not have the tag as of this writing. It remains to be seen how Sony will apply its new PlayStation Exclusive branding across its digital storefront.
