Pokemon GO Players Are Tired of Waiting Through Evolutions

Pokemon GO Players Are Tired of Waiting Through Evolutions

Pokemon GO fans are pointing out some of the biggest issues they have with the game when it comes to valuing their own time. While there are plenty of ways to spend time in Pokemon GO that are beneficial and fun, the ones that players are pointing out are potentially wasting hours of trainers’ lives.

Pokemon GO is on the way to its 10th anniversary, with the game originally seeing an explosively popular launch back in July 2016. While the game has undergone a lot of changes, improvements, and expansions of content since then, players understandably still see places where more can be done to make it even better. Among these are unskippable cutscenes and processes that could be better streamlined.

Some Pokemon GO Players Are Reportedly Losing a Certain Shiny Pokemon

Some fans of Pokemon GO are finding a particular Shiny variant of a recent Pokemon mysteriously vanishing from their accounts.

On Reddit, Pokemon GO players are starting to talk about some of the game’s biggest wastes of time and how they could be changed. The one that kicked off the conversation was shared by Entire_Pineapple4732, who has grown tired of the game’s evolution cutscenes and asked for a simple way to skip them. Though other Pokemon fans have pointed out that Pokemon evolution cutscenes have never been skippable in any of the mainline titles, Entire_Pineapple4732 counters by pointing out that the average player likely doesn’t evolve thousands or more Pokemon over the course of a standard Pokemon game. However, with Pokemon GO running non-stop since 2016, there are plenty of veterans of the title that have done just that.

Entire_Pineapple4732 shared some math, explaining that the evolution cutscene takes around 15 seconds, and since they’ve personally evolved 3,507 Pokemon, that means they’ve been stuck staring at evolution cutscenes for over 14 hours of real time. Another commenting player mentioned having evolved 72,000 Pokemon over the years, which would mean that they’ve spent over twelve full days watching nearly identical evolution cutscenes play out. Many fans in the comments have been in agreement regarding the evolution cutscene taking up too much time. Some want to be able to mass evolve multiple Pokemon at once, while others have suggested adding the ability to skip the animation once a player has earned the Scientist Platinum medal, which unlocks after evolving 2,000 Pokemon.

Pokemon GO Players Point Out Other Unnecessary Time Sinks They Want Changed

Other players have shared their own grievances with other ways that Pokemon GO wastes their time. For example, many want the ability to send and open the maximum number of gifts all at once. Some have also grown weary of the cutscenes for purifying Shadow Pokemon, while others would like to be able to trade in bulk. While those who enjoy the game have no issue with spending a lot of time playing it, they do take issue with their time being wasted in unskippable cutscenes and from performing regular tasks that could be streamlined.

Whether Pokemon GO actually does anything to change this in the future remains to be seen. Entire_Pineapple4732 pointed out that at one time, introducing a way to skip the evolution cutscene would have allowed players to earn XP in Pokemon GO at an inflated rate, which likely would have made it problematic. However, they add that since the level cap has been increased and the game has experienced “XP inflation,” letting players skip that animation wouldn’t likely be exploited in the same way it might have in the past.

Though some seem doubtful that this will be changed after all these years, there is a chance that Scopely may choose to improve upon the title’s established formulas as part of the game’s decade anniversary. For now, though, players will just have to keep waiting for their Pokemon’s evolution sequences to wrap up.
