Pokemon TCG Pocket Reveals Brand-New Expansion for January 2026

Pokemon TCG Pocket has revealed its next upcoming expansion, which is titled Fantastical Parade and will hit players’ phones on January 28 at 5pm PST. The next set of cards for Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket promises to introduce some exciting, brand-new Mega Evolutions and Pokemon EX cards to the game, and there are a couple of other surprise features in the update as well.

Since its worldwide launch on October 30, 2024, Pokemon TCG Pocket has beefed up its roster with regular updates, releasing new expansions filled with hundreds of cards. A dozen full expansions were released in the game’s A Series, and the B Series has already changed the game with its deluge of Mega Evolution Pokemon in Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s Mega Rising and Crimson Blaze expansions.

Now, Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s development team is getting ready to unleash a whole new wave of cards in the Fantastical Parade expansion, which will release its first booster packs starting on January 28 at 5pm PST. The next expansion will continue to trend of releasing new Mega Evolution Pokemon EX cards, and a trailer that has been released alongside the announcement shows that Grass-type Teal Mask Ogerpon EX, Psychic-type Mega Gardevoir EX, and Steel-type Mega Mawile EX will be among the cards included in the upcoming expansion. Ogerpon’s Soothing Wind ability will protect any Pokemon with energy attached from all negative status conditions, Gardevoir’s Fantasia Force attack will allow players to stack three energy on any psychic Pokemon in addition to dealing 110 base damage, and Mawile’s Heat-Up Crunch attack starts at 60 damage and stacks an addition 30 for every turn that it stays in the active spot.

Those are far from the only cards that have been shown off so far. The trailer also previews some new cards for Oricorio, Vanillite, Falinks, Ledian, Pumpkaboo, Meloetta, Galarian Obstagoon, and an upcoming EX variant for Mimikyu. Additionally, there will be at least three new supporter cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket. Diantha will be able to heal a whopping 90 damage from any psychic Pokemon with at least two energy attached, though using her will expend those two psychic energy. Piers will let players discard two energy from their opponent’s active Pokemon, but only when Galarain Obstagoon is in play. And Sightseer will help fill out benches, taking the top four cards from the deck and letting any basic Pokemon cards found there go into play.

In addition to the new wave of cards coming out at the end of January, the development team also has a few new special features that will be ready for release with the next update. More changes are coming to Pokemon TCG Pocket‘s card trading system, as an upcoming message function will allow players to enter preset messages listing their preferences for trades, including whether they would like to request specific, wishlisted cards or if they are seeking cards printed in a particular language. Additionally, players who enjoy the solo battle system will have a lot more to do in the game, as a new option will allow them to take on a randomized, computer-controlled deck that won’t be revealed to them until the battle begins to unfold.

The announcement also lays out a roadmap for the near future, letting players know when they can expect upcoming in-game events. Special missions will run from January 29 to April 26, giving players a chance to obtain a powerful deck centered around Mega Blaziken EX and Entei EX, and trainer cards that include Copycat and Giant Cape. Solo battle players can enjoy a Mega Medicham EX Drop Event filled with a new batch of Promo Pack prizes from February 11-21. Finally, the next Pokemon TCG Pocket Wonder Pick event will run from February 14-24 and will feature Cinderace and Alolan Vulpix Promo Cards as bonuses.
