Pokemon GO Reveals Carnival of Flamigo Event Details

Pokemon GO Reveals Carnival of Flamigo Event Details

Pokemon GO has announced the Carnival of Flamigo event, which will add Flamigo to the mobile augmented reality game. This event will continue the trend of adding Gen 9 creatures to Pokemon GO, and fans do not have much longer to wait before they can collect Flamigo for themselves.

Since its release in July 2016, Pokemon GO has regularly added more Pokemon to its Pokedex. While the game does not feature every Pokemon in existence, it features hundreds of creatures for players to catch. In fact, so many critters have been added that Scopely is beginning to run out of Pokemon for Pokemon GO. For example, some of the earlier generations, including Gen 1 through 3, have no more available Pokemon to add. Fortunately, some of the newer regions, like Galar and Paldea, still have a pool of pocket monsters to draw on.

Pokemon GO Leaks Controversial New Currency Tied to Mega Raids

Recent Pokemon GO leaks are suggesting that a new currency may soon be coming to the mobile game, specifically attached to Mega Raids.

New Event for February 2026 Adds Flamigo to Pokemon GO

With February on the horizon, Scopely has revealed Carnival of Flamigo. This event will help kick off the month, running from Tuesday, February 3, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time. As the name suggests, it stars Flamigo, the Synchronize Pokemon. This will be the debut of the Gen 9 critter in Pokemon GO and can be encountered in the wild once the event gets underway. In addition, some other possible wild encounters during the Carnival of Flamigo include Lotad, Buneary, Pikipek, and Spritzee.

As far as event bonuses go, players will have increased chances of encountering Shiny Lotad, Shiny Spritzee, and Shiny Pikipek. There will also be several other bonuses to take advantage of during Carnival of Flamigo, including 2× Incense and Daily Adventure Incense duration during the event, making it potentially easier to nab some Pokemon. Furthermore, players will be awarded 500 additional Stardust when catching Flamigo.

Event Bonuses

  • 2× Incense duration.
  • 2× Daily Adventure Incense duration.
  • 500 Additional Stardust for catching Flamigo.
  • Increased chance to encounter Shiny Lotad, Shiny Spritzee, and Shiny Pikipek.

While Pokemon GO players can catch Flamigo through wild encounters, the February event will feature other ways to catch the Pokemon. Notably, new Field Research tasks are being added for Carnival of Flamigo that will reward encounters with event-themed Pokemon. Players can also complete Collection Challenges themed around the event to try to get an encounter with Flamigo. These will also give out XP and Stardust.

On top of these activities, free and paid Timed Research will be available for a limited time during Carnival of Flamigo. Some of the rewards for the free Timed Research include two Incense, Stardust, and encounters with event-themed Pokemon. Players can spend $4.99 to access the event-exclusive Paid Timed Research. The rewards for this include one Star Piece, an event-themed avatar pose, encounters with event-themed Pokemon, and more. It is worth noting that rewards earned from completing both versions of Timed Research must be claimed before Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. local time.

This upcoming event suggests that Scopely plans to continue adding new Pokemon to the mobile often. In fact, the developer is hosting another Pokemon GO event at the end of January that will add Glimmet, yet another Gen 9 critter to the roster. The event, known as Into the Depths, will start on January 27 at 10:00 a.m. and run until February 1 at 8:00 p.m. local time.

It will be interesting to see what other Pokemon make their way into the game in the months ahead. More Pokemon from the Paldea region could likely appear. However, the Gen 10 games are expected to release in 2026. If this is the case, the pool of available Pokemon could expand dramatically, giving fans more critters to potentially collect in Pokemon GO in the years ahead.
