Origins Locks in Switch 2 Release

Saber Interactive has confirmed that its upcoming Turok: Origins will officially be released on the Nintendo Switch 2. Turok: Origins is currently locked in with a Fall 2026 release window, and it is now confirmed that the game will launch on the current-gen Nintendo console alongside its previously-announced PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S versions.

Turok: Origins was originally announced at The Game Awards 2024 by prolific developer Saber Interactive. This upcoming title marks the first mainline game in the series since Turok, the reboot released back in 2008. In recent years, there have been remasters of some of the original Turok games, as well as the 2019 spin-off Turok: Escape from Lost Valley, an isometric game that marks a stark departure from what long-time fans of the series are used to. It has been a very long time since gamers got their hands on a mainline Turok game, and Turok: Origins looks like it could be worth the wait.

Big Upcoming Games With Dinosaurs

If you like prehistory, dense jungles, or all things dinosaurs, these upcoming games are just the experience you’re looking for.

Turok: Origins is Officially Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

During the most recent Nintendo Direct, it was finally confirmed that Turok: Origins will be launching on the Nintendo Switch 2 in a new gameplay trailer. Previously, the game was only announced for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, but gamers on Nintendo’s latest home console will also be able to join in the fun when it releases in Fall 2026. It’s worth remembering that the first few Turok games were originally exclusive to Nintendo consoles, appearing on the N64 and the Game Boy Color, so it’s good to see Turok staying where it feels at home.

The Turok gameplay trailer itself looks extremely impressive, promising battles with “all sorts of primal creatures in ferocious combat.” Its use of both first and third-person perspectives during combat creates an interesting gameplay loop, too, and it will be interesting to see how the two differ when combat is so fast-paced. Turok: Origins will feature both solo and multiplayer gameplay, but a Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to access online features. Graphically, the game holds up well on the Nintendo Switch 2, based on the gameplay footage shown here. The graphics capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2 are proving to be a major leap forward from its predecessor, a trend that is only becoming clearer as more third-party titles embrace the platform.

The latest Nintendo Direct had plenty of exciting announcements about third-party support for the Nintendo Switch 2. Upcoming games for the platform include Fallout 4, Oblivion Remastered, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and plenty more. Over the last year, getting third-party games onto the Nintendo Switch 2 has seemingly become a growing priority for Nintendo. Ultimately, this is a good move for gamers, as it allows them to enjoy their favorite games, wherever they choose to play.

Turok- Origins 1-1

As for Turok: Origins, news about the game has been very quiet since its original announcement. This resurfacing at the Nintendo Direct is a good sign that gamers will finally hear a little more about Saber Interactive’s dinosaur title as it gears up for its Fall 2026 release. Hopefully, it isn’t long before there’s an exact date beyond the vague release window, too.
