Capcom and Panasonic Have Revealed an Exclusive Speaker Equipped With Horror Mode for Resident Evil Requiem

Capcom and Panasonic have just revealed an exclusive neck speaker for Resident Evil Requiem, literally capable of making your skin crawl. Resident Evil Requiem has maintained a steady stream of announcements leading up to its February 27 release. Whether it be the noticeable lack of a collector’s edition, the decision to restore a mechanic from previous entries, or the merging of fan-favorite gameplay styles, Resident Evil Requiem is clearly trying its hand at something new. For the series’ eleventh mainline entry, it seems that Capcom want the game to be felt, rather than played.

The Resident Evil series is no stranger to merchandise. Just like any popular game franchise, it has seen its fair share of statues, accessories, and various other collectibles. Usually, this merchandise doesn’t affect the gameplay of any titles in the series, such as Resident Evil Requiem‘s recently revealed Amiibo, which are entirely cosmetic. Even Resident Evil 4‘s chainsaw controller, which was perhaps the strangest accessory released for the series, maintained a rather vanilla functionality. With Resident Evil Requiem right around the corner, it seems this title may be taking a slightly different approach to accessories than previous entries did, hoping to entirely change a player’s experience.

Resident Evil Requiem Gets Encouraging Update Ahead of Its Launch Next Month

Resident Evil Requiem passes a subtle but important milestone in the leadup to its February 2026 launch, and it may come as a sigh of relief for fans.

Panasonic and Capcom have created a Resident Evil Requiem edition of the SoundSlayer neck speaker, set for release alongside the game on February 27 exclusively in Japan. This speaker stems from Panasonic’s range of readily available neck speakers. According to the official product page, this Resident Evil-themed version is distinct through its inclusion of the upcoming game’s logo, the blood-red color, and a unique horror mode. This setting will emphasize lower frequencies, while slightly suppressing the dialogue and direct sounds for increased spaciousness, resulting in audio that can literally send chills down your spine. To top it all off, the UI to navigate various settings and menus is akin to the menus found within Resident Evil Requiem.

It is a truly devastating thought that the Resident Evil Requiem edition of the SoundSlayer is only available in Japan, as it sounds like a great addition. This special edition SoundSlayer speaker will be able to function the same as any of the other models, with the many horror-themed bonuses alongside. This means not only can Resident Evil Requiem be experienced with the skin-crawling horror mode, but many favorites of the genre, such as Silent Hill 2, could be too. With various customization options giving Resident Evil Requiem‘s gameplay a wide range of replay value, this SoundSlayer speaker seems to be the next step in immersive horror titles. When paired with Resident Evil Requiem bringing back Ink Ribbons and limited saves (on the highest difficulty), this strange accessory could be a game-changing experience.

The other SoundSlayer models could still be a great choice for horror gaming, but they lack the exclusive horror mode designed for the upcoming Resident Evil entry. The speaker is certainly unlike any other accessory we’ve ever seen from the Resident Evil series before, and almost makes up for the lack of a Resident Evil Requiem collector’s edition. Not only does it have a strong design, but this SoundSlayer speaker will also alter how the terror in Resident Evil is experienced. Where your eyes and ears may usually be the ones observing horror, this neck speaker allows for each vibration and scare to be felt through a spine-tingling body. Resident Evil Requiem is gearing up to perhaps be the largest entry in the series, merging adrenaline-filled action with slow-burn horror, and what better audio device to use than a neck speaker themed around the game.
