A dedicated Pokemon fan online has spent around 100 hours creating an incredible crochet version of Mosslax, the new variant of Snorlax set to appear in the upcoming Pokemon Pokopia. Although Pokemon Pokopia hasn’t been released yet, fans have already warmed to the adorable Mosslax.
Pokemon Pokopia is a life-simulator set in the Pokemon series, where players take control of a Ditto in human form. The game looks like it will be a fun hybrid between Pokemon and Animal Crossing, two of Nintendo’s biggest franchises, with a planned launch on March 5, 2026. Rather than the usual Pokemon developer Game Freak taking the reins, this title is being helmed by Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force, allowing a new studio to come in with fresh ideas. A few months ago, Pokemon Pokopia first unveiled Mosslax, a new Snorlax form that has fallen asleep for so long that it has been consumed by moss. It’s a hilarious concept that has already left fans feeling inspired.

The Pokemon Presents showcase for February 2026 has its runtime leaked, and it might surprise fans ahead of Pokemon’s 30th anniversary.
Pokemon Pokopia’s Mosslax Has Already Been Crocheted, and It’s Adorable
Redditor phinerz shared their awesome crochet version of Mosslax, which they created while waiting to play Pokemon Pokopia. According to the talented user, “now this big boy can wait with me.” The creation took “about 100 hours” in total, and the time is certainly evident in the incredible attention to detail. Part of the reason it took so long is the sheer size of the Mosslax – it is huge, requiring both hands to hold. In the post, phinerz revealed a few more details about their creative process, including how they gave Mosslax’s body the sherpa and fleece look and used felt for its teeth. It was a cool look into how this Pokemon crochet came to life, charming the users in the series’ subreddit.
Fans in the thread loved phinerz’s creation, with another user claiming they want to “sew a beanbag sized one so bad but have no idea how to design the pattern.” It’s interesting to think that, despite Mosslax being such a new Pokemon, it is already inspiring so many fans to put together cool tributes in unique ways. One fan asked if they also plan to crochet Peakychu, another new form announced for Pokemon Pokopia. According to phinerz, “it’s on the list.”
The Pokemon community continues to amaze with its great creations. At this point, there are nearly 30 years’ worth of fan designs, with every Pokemon Generation inspiring a new group of creators to bring their ideas to life. The other side of this is that, because of the abundance of fan art, things have to be really special to stand out from the crowd. In this instance, phinerz’s Mosslax crochet certainly manages to stand out.
Gamers don’t have long to wait now until Pokemon Pokopia‘s March 5, 2026, release date, but that’s not all fans of the series have to look forward to this year. The Pokemon Company recently confirmed that Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are landing on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27, giving modern gamers a new way to play two classic games in the series. Beyond this, rumors persist about a potential Generation 10 reveal this year. While nothing is confirmed right now, it would be the perfect way for The Pokemon Company to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary.
