The Witcher 4 is one of the most anticipated games currently in development, and developer CD Projekt Red now has the help of one of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33‘s devs. Announced at the 2024 Game Awards, The Witcher 4 was one of the biggest surprises of the event, confirming that Ciri would be taking on Geralt’s role in the brand-new chapter.
Since that initial announcement, The Witcher 4 news has been sparse. A stunning Unreal 5 tech demo was showcased last summer, but it’s been a while since CD Projekt Red offered any more insight into what the game has in store for players. Ciri’s journey already looks compelling, and there are a lot of fans who are eager for any kind of update. The Witcher 4 is bound to be one of the biggest games in its release year, and it looks like CD Projekt Red is recruiting some of the talent from last year’s Game of the Year winner, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Why The Witcher 3’s Zerrikania Would be the Ideal Location for DLC 3
The announcement of a third Witcher 3 DLC feels imminent, and the land of Zerrikania would be the perfect setting for the expansion.
CD Projekt Red Recruits Sandfall Interactive’s Cinematic Animator
According to LinkedIn, Sandafall Interactive Cinematic Animator Lucie Hennet has parted ways with the French award-winning studio and is now working with CD Projekt Red in Poland. Hennet began working at Sandfall Interactive back in 2023 and left at the end of 2024. Her profile shows that she began working at CD Projekt Red in February, so her time with the Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 developer has only just begun. Although Lucie has only just started working with CD Projekt Red, this could bode well for The Witcher 4‘s animation.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a Visual Powerhouse
There are a lot of features that helped make Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 one of the best games of 2025. From its heartfelt story to the game’s powerful voice acting, Sandfall Interactive’s debut game impressed the industry for plenty of valid reasons. The visuals and animation were some of the many standout parts of the game. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33‘s animation is beautifully done, and with The Witcher 4‘s animation already looking strong, this seems like a perfect match. Hennet may have only been with Sandfall Interactive for a year, but that was still plenty of time to do significant work on Clair Obscur: Expedition 33‘s animation. The artist wasn’t part of the core Sandfall Interactive team, with her LinkedIn profile confirming that she was a contract worker during the game’s development. While the main Sandfall dev team was made up of around 30 people, the studio regularly used contract workers to help.
What Does This Mean For The Witcher 4’s Animation?
- The Witcher 4 entered pre-production in 2022.
- CD Projekt Red started full production in November 2024.
- As of late 2025, over 400 devs are working on the project.
Hennet joining the ranks of CD Projekt Red is an intriguing update. With a team of over 400 that is clearly growing even more, it’s hard to say just how many other animators Hennet will be working with. What is clear, though, is that CD Projekt Red sees the benefit in taking on animators from smaller games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 that managed to become huge hits. Game animation is incredibly complex and isn’t beholden to just a single animator, and seeing that The Witcher 4 now has a member of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33‘s team behind it is still exciting.
The Witcher 4 is still shrouded in mystery. As the year continues, CD Projekt Red will hopefully come forward and reveal another look into Ciri and her life as a Witcher. Right now, gamers who are eager for a new Witcher game will have to wait until the developers decide to offer a fresh sneak peek.
