Ubisoft has just announced the three figures who will form the new leadership team behind the Assassin’s Creed franchise. All three of these people have worked at Ubisoft for many years, and all three are key names behind some of the best Assassin‘s Creed entries, including the renowned Assassin’s Creed Black Flag.
After 20 years at Ubisoft and over a decade working in a leadership role on the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Marc-Alexis Côté left Ubisoft in October 2025. For around five years, Côté had worked as the executive producer of the Assassin’s Creed brand, overseeing all of the series’ ongoing projects. Côté leaving Ubisoft left a major gap in leadership that needed to be filled, and it seems Ubisoft has finally done just that.

Assassin’s Creed Gets Three New Leaders
Announced via a Reddit post on February 23, 2026, the Assassin’s Creed franchise now has three new leaders. Martin Schelling has been appointed as Assassin’s Creed‘s new Head of Brand. According to Ubisoft’s official announcement, Schelling will lead the franchise team, the overall strategy, and the long-term vision of Assassin’s Creed. Schelling previously worked as a producer and senior producer on Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Black Flag, Origins, and Valhalla.
Next up is François De Billy, who has been appointed as the Head of Production Excellence for the Assassin’s Creed franchise. In this role, De Billy will “support [Ubisoft’s] teams by strengthening production practices and execution across the franchise.” De Billy’s experience has seen him work as a senior director and global production lead on titles like Assassin’s Creed Revelations and Black Flag, as well as a production director on Assassin’s Creed Origins and Valhalla.
The final member of Assassin’s Creed‘s new leadership team is Jean Guesdon, the new Head of Content. Guesdon will lead the creative direction of the Assassin’s Creed franchise moving forward, supporting ongoing projects and shaping the series’ future “while ensuring it remains true to its DNA.” Guesdon is primarily known for his work as creative director on both Assassin’s Creed Black Flag and Assassin’s Creed Origins, but his first AC project was 2009’s Assassin’s Creed 2. Ubisoft’s official announcement of this new leadership team ends with a brief message from Jean Guesdon that reads:
“It is wonderful to be back after all these years. Assassin’s Creed has been a defining part of my professional life and being back feels like coming home. This universe, these characters, these worlds, and of course the community have always meant so much to me. I’m especially grateful to be sharing this journey with all of you again, and look forward to sharing more about the next steps ahead for the franchise. Until then…. Nothing is True. Everything is Permitted.”
Martin Schelling, François De Billy, and Jean Guesdon will also be joined by Andrée-Anne Boisvert, the producer for Assassin’s Creed‘s cross-brand initiatives and the Head of Technological Excellence, as well as Lionel Hiller, the Vice President of Brand and Go-to-Market Strategy. These five figures will form the Assassin’s Creed franchise’s new leadership team.
Though this announcement is still fresh, many fans have expressed their opinions of this new leadership team in the comments of Ubisoft’s Reddit post. Generally speaking, there’s a positive sentiment running through much of the Assassin’s Creed community in light of this news, with many fans pleased that the new leadership team consists of veterans of the franchise who have worked on some of the most acclaimed entries in Assassin’s Creed history. That said, some fans are still cautious about the series’ future, especially in light of the recent layoffs and cancellations at Ubisoft.
