Towerborne is officially out of early access and available across even more Xbox Game Pass tiers as of February 26. Its arrival rounds out the Xbox Game Pass February 2026 lineup, which included 20 new releases.
Made by The Banner Saga developer Stoic and published by Xbox Game Studios, Towerborne has been available in early access since late April 2025. Described as part-looter, part-brawler, the side-scrolling RPG is built around combo-driven brawler combat and gear-driven progression. It casts players as Ace, a warrior reborn to defend the Belfry, humanity’s last refuge, while venturing out into the ruins of the fallen City of Numbers. While it can be experienced solo, Towerborne also supports co-op multiplayer for up to four players.
Xbox Game Pass Adds 2024 Game with ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ Reviews
The 19th title to join Xbox Game Pass in February 2026 is a 2024 release with over 31,000 ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ player reviews.
Towerborne 1.0 Rounds Out Xbox Game Pass Lineup for the Month
Towerborne officially left early access on February 26, when it also landed on Xbox Game Pass Premium. PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers have already been able to play Stoic’s latest title since spring 2025. Since it’s published by Xbox Game Studios, Towerborne is expected to be a permanent fixture of Microsoft’s subscription service. Given that status, it may even eventually make its way to the Essential tier of Xbox Game Pass, joining other first-party Xbox titles such as Fallout 4, Gears 5, and Halo Wars 2.

Compared to the early access version of Towerborne, the 1.0 release replaces the Job Board of optional challenges with a new Bounty Board and introduces a reworked map featuring a coastal biome. The update also adds new endgame challenges and overhauls the difficulty system, introducing mechanics such as Vanguards—elite enemies that buff nearby foes—as well as a new difficulty setting called Brutal.
While Towerborne concludes this month’s releases, it’s technically not the last title listed as part of the Xbox Game Pass Wave 2 lineup for February 2026. As is often the case, the latest roster technically stretches into early next month, with Microsoft confirming both Final Fantasy 3 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will arrive on March 3. That date falls on the first Tuesday of next month, making it the most likely candidate for when the Wave 1 roster for March 2026 will be announced. The lineup is already confirmed to include Planet of Lana 2, a sci-fi puzzle platformer joining Xbox Game Pass as a day-one title on March 5.

For the next month, Xbox Game Pass has Nova Roma scheduled for March 26. The colorful city builder was initially targeting a January 22 release but ended up delayed two weeks before that date. Looking beyond, Forza Horizon 6 and Beast of Reincarnation are planned to join Microsoft’s subscription service on May 19 and August 4, respectively. More than 20 other titles have also been confirmed as day-one Xbox Game Pass arrivals in 2026 but are still waiting for firm release dates. That group includes Awaysis, Gears of War: E-Day, Beastro, Fable, and There Are No Ghosts at the Grand.
