A Forza Horizon 6 player recently shared a short video on social media with a reference to the Pokemon series that could be heard via an in-game radio broadcast. Although the Forza Horizon 6 Easter egg did not call out Pokemon by name, the reference was not lost on keen-eared fans.
As of this writing, Forza Horizon 6 is already one of the most played 2026 releases on Steam. In short, Playground Games’ latest title boasted a peak player count of 178,009 during its early access window. Given that Forza Horizon 6 will not fully launch until May 19, that has not stopped the latest entry in Playground Games’ open-world racing series from taking the world by storm. With more players expected to jump into Forza Horizon 6 once it officially launches on Xbox Game Pass, only time will tell how much higher the player count will rise across PC and Xbox consoles.

Forza Horizon 6 References Pokemon Without Naming It Outright
As more players experience all the new features that Forza Horizon 6 has to offer, one player caught wind of a clever nod to one of gaming’s most popular franchises of all time. A Twitter user named Wxrry posted a 14-second video from the Xbox Series X/S version of Forza Horizon 6 that included a short piece of dialogue from an in-game radio station. Wxrry stated that the station in question was called Hospital Records, a real-life independent record label that has appeared throughout the Forza Horizon series since Forza Horizon 2. One of the radio’s hosts told listeners, “Grab your camera and snap ’em all!” while the other host said, “It’s like that Japanese collecting game we’re not allowed to name for legal reasons.”
Although other monster-catching games exist, such as Palworld and the Digimon franchise, the clip seems to be a reference to both the Pokemon series and to Nintendo’s reputation of being protective of its intellectual property. Other than driving around the world map with the radio on, there is no known method for getting the Pokemon Easter egg to play at will. Ergo, Forza Horizon 6 players will need some luck and a keen ear to catch the Easter egg for themselves.

Nintendo’s Legal History Has Garnered a Reputation
In response to Wxrry’s video, some users made light of the possibility that the Forza Horizon 6 development team was wary of drawing the ire of Nintendo or The Pokemon Company. Nintendo’s use of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to protect its IP has been well-documented over the years, as the gaming giant has several courtroom victories under its belt against various individuals and companies. Additionally, The Pokemon Company’s ongoing legal spat with Palworld developer Pocketpair has been the subject of debate among gamers across the globe.
Given that Forza Horizon 6 is already one of the top-rated games of 2026 so far, Playground Games’ latest entry has already garnered some attention on social media. It remains to be seen how many more Easter eggs and references will be uncovered once Forza Horizon 6 is fully released.
