Pokemon Sleep Is Adding Mew

Pokemon Sleep is adding one of the franchise’s most iconic Mythical Pokemon to the sleeping app, allowing fans to find Mew. The mobile game, created by developer Select Button in cooperation with The Pokemon Company, certainly serves as one of the most unique Pokemon games available from the franchise, designed to help players track their sleeping habits. A variety of creatures visit the player and their Snorlax companion while they sleep within the game, also providing helpful information about their sleep patterns. Pokemon Sleep has featured multiple Legendaries and Mythical Pokemon as nighttime visitors as well.

Pokemon Sleep has added many new creatures to the game since its original debut in July 2023. Pokemon Sleep regularly features events with featured Pokemon visiting the player in their sleep, including 2025’s Darkrai vs. Cresselia event, tasking players with stacking up Drowsy Power to defeat the Dark-type Legendary. The game has proven to be a surprisingly popular app for many fans, with The Pokemon Company confirming Pokemon Sleep had surpassed 28 million downloads during its second anniversary in 2025. Now, one of Pokemon‘s most recognizable creatures is coming to Pokemon Sleep for the franchise’s 30th anniversary.

Pokemon Winds and Waves Starters Lend Credence to Previous Leak About New Evolutions and Gameplay Mechanics

Pokemon Winds and Waves’ reveal of its new starters is making a leak look very plausible, including details about Gen 10 battles and new Pokemon.

Mew Is Coming to Pokemon Sleep for Pokemon’s 30th Anniversary

Pokemon Sleep officially announced the addition of Mew to the game during the 30th anniversary Pokemon Day presentation. The teaser trailer features a mix of live-action footage with animated Pokemon, depicting some stunning scenes of Mew frolicking through different environments. Pokemon Sleep confirms that several special missions revolving around Mew will be added following the presentation, immediately giving fans the chance to find Mew within the game. Pokemon Sleep is also giving away some free rewards to celebrate the Pokemon Day livestream, gifting fans with 1,000 Diamonds and 10 Poke Biscuits for logging in.

Mew’s starring role in the Pokemon Sleep announcement was joined by another brief teaser at the conclusion of the trailer. The final few seconds of the video sharply pivot away from its focus on Mew, shifting to a scenic view of the Grand Canal in Venice. Latias and Latios quickly fly overhead in the three-second-long clip, suggesting that the Eon Pokemon duo will also be appearing in Pokemon Sleep during an upcoming event. Neither member of the pair of roaming Legendaries from the franchise’s third generation has appeared before in Pokemon Sleep.

Mew’s addition to Pokemon Sleep aligns with the focus on the franchise’s origins during the 30th anniversary festivities. The Pokemon Company unveiled a miniature music player modeled after the original Game Boy during the presentation, featuring every song used in Pokemon Red and Blue. Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen were re-released for the Nintendo Switch alongside the presentation, with The Pokemon Company previously confirming that the games would be coming to the console. Pokemon Masters EX and Pokemon GO similarly featured throwbacks to the Kanto region, with Masters adding the 1996 version of Red while GO is set to host Raids for Kanto’s trio of Legendary Birds.

Pokemon boasted many major announcements during the presentation, though none were bigger than the next generation of main-series games. Pokemon Winds and Waves were officially confirmed by Game Freak and The Pokemon Company, with Pokemon‘s 10th-generation games currently slated to release sometime in 2027. The gameplay showcased some significant graphical upgrades from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet for the franchise’s full jump to the Switch 2, alongside giving fans a first look at the three starter Pokemon and the tropical setting of the new games. 2026’s Pokemon Day celebration presented some ambitious plans for the future of the franchise, kicking off the 30th anniversary of the series in strong fashion.
