Resident Evil Requiem Steam Version Is 18% Off in This Unique Deal

The Steam version of Resident Evil Requiem is currently 18% off on Fanatical. The discount that undercuts Steam’s launch price applies to both editions of Resident Evil Requiem and comes with only one notable trade-off.

Unlike gray-market key marketplaces, Fanatical positions itself as an authorized PC game retailer that works directly with publishers and officially licensed distributors. That is what makes its discounts legitimate promos rather than deals that are too good to be true. The British company has also been around long enough to have a recognizable retail footprint in PC deal circles, dating back to 2012, when it was known as Bundle Stars. Fanatical has offered notable launch-day discounts on AAA Steam games for the majority of its existence.

Fanatical Offering Resident Evil Requiem Steam Version At Its Lowest-Ever Price

The critically acclaimed Resident Evil Requiem is now continuing Fanatical’s long-running track record with early discounts on AAA titles. It is currently listed for $57.39, 18% off its usual $69.99 price point. The offer applies to a Steam key purchase, meaning players are effectively buying a code to redeem on Steam rather than purchasing the license directly through Valve’s storefront.

The discount applies to both the Standard and Deluxe Editions of Resident Evil Requiem. The higher-priced package bundles the base game with a variety of digital extras, including five character costumes, one of which has Grace looking like Lady Dimitrescu from the 2021 Resident Evil Village. Four weapon skins are also part of the package, together with two visual filters, a couple of charms, and a curated audio pack, as well as some supplementary in-game lore files. Since the Deluxe Edition carries a $10 premium, Fanatical’s flat 18% discount translates into slightly higher absolute savings: $14.40, compared with $12.60 for the Standard Edition.

Buying Games on Fanatical vs Steam: Pros and Cons

Fanatical’s business model is generally closer to a conventional digital retailer than a game marketplace: it negotiates promotions with publishers and distributors, sells officially supplied keys, and uses storefront discounts, bundles, and limited-time deals to move volume. On its own site, Fanatical emphasizes that it only works with “officially licensed publishers,” which is the core reason its keys are generally treated as legitimate purchases, unlike those procured via peer-to-peer resale sites. The most notable practical benefit for players is that Fanatical’s setup often allows them to purchase Steam games, including brand-new releases like Resident Evil Requiem, at a discount.

In terms of disadvantages, the main trade-off when purchasing through Fanatical is that such transactions come with more limited refund options. Valve has long offered a no-questions-asked refund window that allows users to change their mind about any game purchased within the last two weeks and played for up to two hours, but that policy applies only to games bought directly on Steam. By contrast, Fanatical generally issues refunds only for activation issues, which are relatively rare as the retailer primarily sells global keys. Given the platform’s pros and cons, those unsure whether they are in the mood for a survival horror game may not find Fanatical’s discount worth sacrificing Steam’s consumer-friendly refund policy. Others are unlikely to mind the trade-off.

At $57.39, the PC version of Resident Evil Requiem is unlikely to see a lower price anytime soon, based on historical precedent. For reference, both Resident Evil Village and the Resident Evil 4 remake took roughly six months before receiving their first official discounts on Steam. As for Requiem, the latest series entry continues to gain momentum, recently setting a new concurrent player record on Steam with 344,214 users in the early afternoon hours ET on February 28.
