With the launch of Overwatch Season 2, Sierra has entered the game as the title’s 51st character. But if the early reaction to Sierra’s introduction is any indication, she may need to be nerfed soon because her ultimate attack can cause massive amounts of damage to opposing players.
When Sierra has 1800 points, her ultimate can fire a drone that drops 23 bombs, each dealing 180 damage. The bombs’ impact can be felt up to three meters away, and there’s not much players with slower characters can do to avoid being caught in the lethal aftermath.
“I love the drone grapple, [but] her [ultimate] is ridiculous and literally needs to be nerfed today,” .wrote a player on Reddit. “Also not a fan of every 6 second aimbot. Love her character design though.”
Another player likened Sierra’s ultimate to a “carpet bomb,” and others have called for the attack to be weakened and for the price of her ultimate to be increased. Sierra’s auto-aim ability has also received some complaints.

It seems likely that Blizzard will make at least some adjustments to Sierra, but it’s an open question of how quickly those changes can be made and implemented. At the very least, Sierra is making a big impression, even if not everyone is happy about her power.
Overwatch is also having a tough time on Switch 2 this week, as a performance update that was meant to provide much-needed improvements has actually made things even worse on the console. Blizzard has already promised to release a hot fix to address the FPS limit imposed by the update.
Earlier this week, Blizzard shared the redesigned face of Anran after her initial design proved to be too similar to previous Overwatch characters. Even Anran’s voice performer Fareeha backed players’ call for a redesign before Blizzard ultimately promised to do so. The new design went live with the debut of Overwatch Season 2 earlier this week.
