A Massive Xbox Exclusive is Coming to PS5 in April

A Massive Xbox Exclusive is Coming to PS5 in April

According to reliable sources, Xbox Game Studios and Bethesda’s open-world sci-fi game Starfield is coming to PS5 consoles in April. Fans can expect to learn more about this release later this month, but suffice to say, this Starfield news is coming from a reliable source.

The timing here is unusual, to say the least. Starfield coming to PS5 opens the door for The Elder Scrolls 6, or other massive Bethesda games that fans believed would be console exclusive to Xbox (and available on PC), and signals a massive switch to third-party. Of course, Xbox has already released several games on PS5, but the fact that Starfield is next is telling. This news also comes at a time when many Xbox fans are requesting that the new CEO, Asha Sharma, give the console exclusives again. It’s an interesting time in the PS5/Xbox Series X competition, that’s for sure.

“Hear You”: New Xbox CEO Responds to Requests for Games to be Exclusive Again

New executive Asha Sharma has begun addressing long-standing community feedback, suggesting a possible change in how the brand plans to grow.

Billbil-kun, who works for Dealabs Magazine with a proven track record of PS Plus leaks, mobile device leaks, and more, has confirmed this information. There will be a physical and digital edition of the game, made available for release on April 7, 2026. There will also be a Standard and Premium edition of Starfield for PS5 owners, with the latter granting early access. Otherwise, the content of the Premium edition is not yet known. It will be launching at a significant discount as well.

Starfield on PS5

  • Pre-Orders Open on March 17 or March 18
  • Release Date: April 7
  • Standard Edition: €49.99 / £44.99
  • Premium Edition: €69.99 / £59.99

    • USD price is not known but is expected to be equivalent to ~$59.99

Billbil-kun also expects pre-orders for the PS5 version of Starfield to open on March 18, if not slightly earlier on the evening of March 17. The news comes after Bethesda’s Todd Howard squashed rumors about Starfield‘s supposed 2.0 update, but there may be an expansion releasing alongside this PS5 port, too. That would be best for PS5 and Xbox players both, especially since Howard said he’d have news to share on Starfield soon at that time. I guess this is the news.

While Starfield is not the most popular Bethesda game, it feels worth repeating that this signals a massive switch to third-party for Xbox—even more so than before. Obviously, this release would have been planned before CEO Asha Sharma took over following Phil Spencer’s retirement, but that only signals the shift even more. If a massive RPG from Bethesda Game Studios comes to PS5, under Xbox’s previously avowed “case-by-case basis,” then there’s almost no case for other games to remain exclusive.

It remains to be seen how Sharma approaches the console exclusivity debate, especially with Activision-Blizzard and Bethesda/Zenimax under Xbox’s thumb, but the messaging is now clear. The Console War is dead and may never come back. Hell has frozen over. Pretty much every and any prior or future Xbox exclusive (which were already available on PC) will have the doors slung open for the PlayStation 5 console and its install base.
