Diablo 4 Fans Aren’t Happy With the Latest Crossover

Diablo 4 fans online are voicing their frustrations about the brand-new DOOM collaboration, with many pointing out the huge cost of purchasing the entire collection. Typically, Diablo 4 cosmetics are on the more expensive side, but this particular crossover has still frustrated many players despite this.

Diablo 4‘s DOOM crossover was announced as part of Season 12, the Season of Slaughter. The collaboration adds a new DOOM: The Dark Ages Event Reliquary that players can progress through by earning Dark Ages currency, which can be found when defeating Elie and Champion enemies. This unlocks a ton of rewards during the event completely free of charge. However, there is also a selection of in-game Shop items that players can purchase with Platinum, Diablo 4‘s premium currency.

One Diablo 4 Class Gets the Short End of the Stick in Season 12

Diablo 4 players may want to avoid this class during the Season of Slaughter, as it’s playstyle doesn’t synergize well with the seasonal mechanics.

Diablo 4 DOOM Cosmetics Cost $125 to Buy in Total

A recent Reddit post by user asmallman pointed out that to get the Diablo 4 x DOOM cosmetics, including the discounted armor bundle, two pets, and mount, players would need to purchase $125 worth of Platinum. For context, the armor sets for every class can be bought together for 5,700 Platinum, which is a whopping $49.99 by itself. By comparison, Diablo 4‘s Lord of Hatred expansion, which launches next month, only costs $39.99, while the base game itself is $49.99. The thread pointed out the cosmetics’ high prices, saying, “we are allowed to be mad it isnt 5 bucks, but 50.”

The sentiment in the thread was mixed, with others suggesting that players vote with their wallet and not purchase the latest Diablo 4 skins. “You impress no one but yourself,” one user said. Despite this, there was genuine frustration among fans that they had to miss out on some cool cosmetics because of the enormous cost. While it’s good that players can earn some cosmetics for free, many were annoyed that there wasn’t more on offer for those who don’t want to spend absurd prices on in-game skins. Some of the annoyance came from the fact that Blizzard is charging for the armor cosmetics per Diablo 4 class. If players don’t buy the discounted bundle featuring all of them, the price per class is much higher.

The pricing approach in the Diablo 4 x DOOM collaboration is no different to Blizzard’s usual. Previous Diablo 4 crossovers have also featured expensive cash shop items, leading players to complain. At this point, it’s safe to say that if no one was buying the items, Blizzard would have brought the price down. While many gamers are frustrated, it’s clear that there is an audience for these items at this price point.

Despite annoyance at this particular crossover, the last few seasons of Diablo 4 have been very successful, with engaging gameplay mechanics that keep players engaged over the course of a season. The recently launched Season 12 will be shorter than usual, with Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred set to launch on April 28, adding a new storyline and a new class, the Warlock. It’s going to be a very exciting period for fans of the game, which continues to go from strength to strength.
