Starfield Finally Launching On PS5 Next Month

Starfield Finally Launching On PS5 Next Month

Bethesda has finally confirmed months of rumors and speculation. The company’s open-world space RPG, Starfield, is arriving on PlayStation 5 in April.

On Tuesday, during a deep dive into Starfield‘s upcoming next major free update and its next paid story DLC, Bethesda ended the video with one last bit of news. Nearly three years after launch and after numerous updates and a big story expansion, Starfield is finally making the leap to Sony’s home console on April 7.

Starfield is already available to pre-order on the PlayStation Store and costs $50. The store listing also confirms this upcoming port is PS5 Pro Enhanced, just like other Bethesda games on PS5.

When Starfield launches on PS5 next month, it will arrive on the same day that Bethesda pushes out a big update for the space RPG. Free Lanes, while not quite a Starfield 2.0 overhaul as some might have hoped, looks to be a big shake-up of space travel and adds a lot of smaller quality-of-life changes that longtime players will appreciate. Meanwhile, on that same day, Bethesda is also launching Terran Armada, the next major story expansion for Starfield that will add a new deadly army hellbent on taking over the galaxy with large battalions of robot soldiers.

Starfield is just the latest game from an Xbox-owned studio to get a PS5 port. As the company leans into its new multiplatform era, nearly every Xbox and Bethesda franchise, including The Elder Scrolls, Gears of War, Fallout, Halo, and Forza, has already made or will make the leap to Sony’s PlayStation 5. This is unlikely to change anytime soon, despite the recent shake-up in leadership at Xbox that occurred recently, with longtime Xbox boss Phil Spencer leaving the gaming brand.
