ARC Raiders developer Embark Studios has released a short teaser video for the game’s upcoming Flashpoint update, seemingly confirming that the deadliest ARC enemy in the game, the Shredder, is finally escaping the confines of Stella Montis. With March quickly drawing to a close, Embark plans on ending the month with another huge ARC Raiders content update, which will be the third of four confirmed patches arriving as part of the shooter’s 2026 roadmap.
After finding huge success at launch last year, Embark kicked off the new year with a big 2026 roadmap for ARC Raiders. According to the studio’s plans so far, ARC Raiders will receive four updates between January and April, presumably with further updates on the way afterwards. The first, known as the Headwinds update, arrived in January, adding a controversial 1v3 matchmaking option, a new Buried City exclusive Map Condition, and a new Player Project. Then, in February, the studio deployed Shrouded Sky, another major content update that added two new ARC enemies, a new location on Dam Battlegrounds, a major Map Condition, and much more.
Between Marathon and ARC Raiders, It’s Clear Which One Took The Bigger Risk (And It Paid Off)
Marathon and ARC Raiders are two of the biggest extraction shooters of the past few years, but one is clearly more experimental than the other.
ARC Raiders Teases Shredder Breaking Out of Stella Montis
Last week, Embark announced that the third ARC Raiders content update of the year will release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on Tuesday, March 31. Now, with the free patch fast approaching, the studio has released another teaser video, this time seemingly confirming that the Shredder will soon make its way to another map. The caption for the trailer reads, “Someone forgot to close the Stella Montis doors on their way out,” with the accompanying video showing the underground tunnels section of Blue Gate, which all but confirms that the deadly enemy will be added to the map in next week’s Flashpoint update.
For those who have been keeping up to date with Embark Studios since the launch of ARC Raiders, this likely won’t come as much of a surprise. Earlier this year, design director Virgil Watkins revealed in an interview with PC Gamer that the PvE side of the game will be given a new twist in the future as the Shredder will be added to other maps in ARC Raiders. It’s now been revealed that the enemy will, in fact, be making its way to Blue Gate with Flashpoint next week, but it remains a mystery as to whether or not Embark has plans to add the Shredder to even more maps in the future.
Despite the fact that the Shredder, which was added to ARC Raiders in a post-launch update alongside Stella Montis, is currently only available on a single map, it is the deadliest enemy in the game. Earlier this month, Embark took to social media to reveal the top five deadliest ARC in ARC Raiders. While the Firefly, which has barely been in the game for a month, came in at number three, it was the Rocketeer that took the second spot, followed by the Shredder at number one. The studio didn’t reveal how many Raiders had fallen victim to the Shredder, but you only need to take a trip to Stella Montis to see just how deadly they can be.
Although the Shredder will require ARC Raiders players to switch up their tactics when it leaves Stella Montis and makes its way to Blue Gate next week, the reception from fans doesn’t appear to be very positive. Many fans appear to be calling for Embark to focus on new content instead of adding existing enemies to other maps, with some speculating that the “new ARC threat” teased for March’s Flashpoint update won’t be so new after all. “Aint no way we’re hyping up Shredders on other maps as new content,” content creator and streamer Cloakzy said, while another user said, “I beg, please don’t say the shredders are the new ARC threat. Please.”
