Pokemon Pokopia Player Builds Incredible Memorial for Their Dad

Pokemon Pokopia Player Builds Incredible Memorial for Their Dad

A Pokemon Pokopia player crafted a touching memorial in-game to honor their late dad, sharing a clip of their handiwork on social media. The Pokemon Pokopia memorial’s creator also shared some details about his late father, including how he integrated his father’s profession and his favorite Pokemon into the build.

Since its March 5 launch, Pokemon Pokopia has taken the world of gaming by storm, with it selling over two million units in its first few days. Taking cues from games like Dragon Quest Builders 2, Pokopia allows players to share impressive builds within the confines of the game’s voxel art style. These builds can then be shared on social media for others to view, with some being accessible as a Cloud Island that can be visited in-game via specific codes. Along with tidy neighborhoods and cozy homes, Pokemon Pokopia players can craft underground subway systems and other clever methods of transportation.

Pokopia Memorial Is a Fitting Tribute To a Departed Dad

Although Pokemon Pokopia players can build railways that Rick Roll their passengers, one player shared a railway memorial they made to honor their late father. Content creator Shatt3r3dtim3 shared a TikTok clip from a recent live stream that showed the memorial he created in Pokopia. According to Shatt3r3dtim3, his father died 18 months ago and worked at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) for 20 years. Shatt3r3dtim3 called his father his best friend and said that the virtual tribute was the least he could do to honor his father. The Pokopia memorial build was made in a dimly lit room that could be accessed by a railway. Alternatively, the memorial could also be accessed by some Pokemon, as Cacturne and Magmortar could be seen talking to each other in one corner of the room. Starry wallpaper and various decorations were on display, including Blue and Red Meteor Lamps placed on each side of the room.

While the space theme of the memorial was a clear reference to the career Shatt3r3dtim3’s late father had, the centerpiece is just as heart-touching. For the main part of the memorial, a gravestone covered in four wildflower patches was placed in the middle of it. This memorial is also a Pokemon habitat in Pokemon Pokopia called the “Grave With Flowers,” and it is considered the main habitat of Cubone and Marowak. Shatt3r3dtim3 said he made the Grave With Flowers as part of the memorial because his father’s favorite Pokemon is Cubone. Known as the Lonely Pokemon, Cubone first appeared in Pokemon Red and Blue alongside Marowak. Cubone’s story takes a sad turn in Pokemon Pokopia, though the tale also lends credence to the Lonely Pokemon’s past Pokedex entries. By appearing at a Grave With Flowers habitat, Pokemon Pokopia further emphasized how much Cubone mourns its late mother.

The Cubone Connections Don’t End With Just The Memorial

Even with Shatt3r3dtim3 building a Grave With Flowers habitat as a way to honor his father, the connections with Cubone did not end there. In response, most Pokemon fans stated that the Cubone memorial was a fitting and tear-inducing way for Shatt3r3dtim3 to honor his late dad. However, one Pokemon fan pointed out that the starry background that Shatt3r3dtim3 used matched the background artwork that was used for Cubone’s first appearance in the Pokemon Trading Card Game. In this artwork, Cubone looked mournfully at the stars.

However, it is not clear if the Cubone card artwork had anything to do with Shatt3r3dtim3’s use of a starry wallpaper for the memorial or if it’s purely coincidental. Given that Pokemon Pokopia players of any skill level can create various builds using the materials that the game has to offer, it remains to be seen what fans will create next.
