Developer Supergiant has confirmed that Hades 2 is heading to Xbox Series X/S on April 14, when it’ll also enter the ever-growing Xbox Game Pass library. Along with being a day one Xbox Game Pass title, Hades 2 will be an Xbox Play Anywhere game, meaning that players will be able to access their copy of the game and transfer their save data across Xbox, PC, and Cloud.
Hades 2‘s Xbox Game Pass release date was announced during the recent Xbox Partner Preview. This 30-minute broadcast featured an array of reveals and updates from both smaller-scale projects and major AAA titles. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl announced a new expansion, Dispatch got an Xbox release date, Stranger Than Heaven revealed new story details, and a co-op Serious Sam game made its debut, to name just a few of the biggest announcements.
New Roguelike Beat-Em-Up on Steam is Like Hades Meets Streets of Rage
This new roguelike beat-em-up game for Steam blends the flashy stylings of Hades with the gritty storytelling of Streets of Rage.
Hades 2 Launches on Xbox Game Pass on April 14
A direct sequel to Supergiant’s acclaimed 2020 roguelike, Hades 2 sees players assume the role of Melinoe, Zagreus’ sister and the Princess of the Underworld. As Melinoe, players are tasked with hunting down Chronos, the conniving Titan of Time who’s broken free from his eternal imprisonment in Tartarus and has proceeded to wreak havoc on both the underworld and Mount Olympus. Just like its predecessor, Hades 2 presents players with a myriad of powerful Boons to empower their roguelike runs, each one corresponding to a specific Greek god or titan.
On top of the Boons, Melinoe has access to a vast arsenal of weapons, none of which were present in the original game. Each of these weapons has a distinct set of regular and special attacks, and players can utilize a new Magick system to strengthen their strikes or dish out unique attacks and Casts. There are plenty of other sequel-exclusive features as well, such as the addition of Selene’s Hexes and the Crossroads customization system, but they’re best experienced first-hand with little prior knowledge. But for those wanting a more expansive deep dive into everything Hades 2 does differently from its predecessor, Xbox Wire has a full breakdown on what new and returning fans can expect on April 14.
Following an early access stint of around 16 months, Hades 2 launched fully onto PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 in September 2025. Upon its 1.0 debut, Hades 2 received universal acclaim from critics. On OpenCritic, Hades 2 is currently sitting at a Top Critic Average of 95, with 98% of critics recommending the game. Hades 2 has also been nominated for over 35 major industry awards, with six of those being Game Awards 2025 nominations, including in the prestigious Game of the Year category. Currently, Hades 2 has won 10 of these major industry awards, including The Game Awards 2025’s Best Action Game trophy. It’s very likely that Hades 2‘s winning streak will continue next month when BAFTA holds its annual game awards ceremony.
Hades 2 Is Also Coming to PS5 on April 14
While it naturally wasn’t mentioned in the Xbox Partner Preview, Hades 2 will also be coming to PlayStation 5 on April 14. This was announced via Supergiant’s official social media accounts, which posted the same animated trailer shown in the Partner Preview along with confirmation that the sequel is heading to Xbox and PS5 on the same day.
