There Still Might Be Time To Get A PS5 For $400 For GTA 6

There Still Might Be Time To Get A PS5 For 0 For GTA 6

Sony officially raised the price of the PS5 on April 2. The cheapest model now has an MSRP starting at $600. But it’s actually not too late to get the console at the old discounted price of $400. That happens to be its original launch price, which is what a win looks like in 2026.

PlayStation Direct is still listing the Fortnite Flowering Chaos PS5 Bundle at the old sale price. It includes the version of the console without a disc drive and a bunch of PlayStation-exclusive cosmetics for Epic’s free-to-play battle royale. Sony even mentions that the bundle offers “savings of $200,” so this isn’t a weird glitch or something.

It’s possible Sony is trying to sell through existing inventory of the bundle before reverting to the new $600 price. Other online and physical retailers might be in a similar boat, though GameStop lists the same bundle at the same price and it’s already “out of stock.”

This might be the last, best, brief window for anyone who’s still looking to upgrade to PS5 ahead of the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6 later this year, or Marvel’s Wolverine if you’re just a comic book nerd who doesn’t care about super-luxurious open-world narrative games. The game’s not coming to PC at launch and no Switch 2 port has been announced.

You’re only alternative would be to pick up an Xbox Series S, which is also currently priced at $400 thanks to the ongoing RAM shortages and Trump trade war taxes. But that console is significantly weaker than the PS5/Xbox Series X and GTA 6 will likely have noticeable performance drawbacks on the cheaper Microsoft hardware.

Otherwise, with prices continuing to skyrocket and next-gen hardware just around the corner, your best bet might just be to wait until Sony releases the PS6.
