Dying Light: The Beast has just received Hotfix 1.6.1, and it’s got a healthy slate of enhancements that should leave players feeling fuller for longer — at least in game. The new update follows Dying Light: The Beast’s massive Restored Land DLC, which introduced major changes to how players interact with the game. In the new DLC, players permanently clear areas of zombies, allowing additional survivors to return. The update also added lots of other free content to Dying Light: The Beast.
Released last fall, Dying Light: The Beast follows original protagonist Kyle Crane after he breaks free from captivity, using a suite of new powers to tear his way through his quest for revenge against his former captor. Since launch, fans and critics have received Dying Light: The Beast warmly, with many citing Crane’s new abilities and overall increased brutality as a positive step for the franchise. With plenty of post-launch support for the game, it seems like the sky’s the limit as far as what it can achieve, so long as developer Techland keeps the updates coming.
Dying Light: The Beast Restored Land Edition – 10 Highlights You Can’t Miss
Techland reveals 10 highlights of the new Dying Light: The Beast Restored Land experience that fans should be sure not to miss.
Dying Light: The Beast Is Here to Satiate Your Hunger
With Hotfix 1.6.1, Techland is making a bevy of changes to Dying Light: The Beast’s hunger mechanics. Players will now see lower hunger drain while sleeping, as well as lower hunger drain overall. Additionally, it’ll take longer to reach the “Very Hungry” and “Famished” states, and vendors will offer improved food bars. With these changes combined, players should find themselves managing Crane’s hunger much less regularly, giving them more freedom to play around in Dying Light: The Beast’s jungle gym-like map.
Of course, that’s not all Techland has cooked up. In addition to the changes to hunger mechanics, players can now upgrade weapon blueprints from DLC bundles all the way to Legendary rarity, making them far more useful overall. Should those weapons, or any others, cause both the player’s stash and inventory to overflow, their lowest-quality weapon will now be dropped on the ground. There’s a healthy selection of other changes to check out in the full patch notes, too.
Techland has been committed to post-launch support for a while, releasing an 11-week roadmap for Dying Light: The Beast back in October. Those updates gave players plenty to come back to, with standard changes like a New Game Plus mode and an additional difficulty setting, Nightmare, releasing during that window. With some players citing the vanilla version’s endgame legendary grind as a bit too grindy, additions like New Game Plus have gone a long way to ensuring that players have easier access to loot.

Developer support like this is vital to keeping a game’s community alive, so it’s good to see Techland responding to player feedback with regular changes. Of course, this level of support is nothing new for the franchise. Each game has received a healthy lineup of post-launch updates and DLC, with Restored Land’s multitude of features being the most recent example. If Techland can keep it up, Dying Light fans should have plenty to look forward to in the future.
