WoW: Midnight's Mythic+ Dungeons Are Too Easy, So Blizzard Is Adding Even More Rewards

World of Warcraft: Midnight Season 1’s Mythic+ dungeons will soon offer even more rewards for those looking to continue pushing higher and higher keys.

Mythic+ dungeons are one of the main endgame activities in Blizzard’s MMORPG, allowing players to tackle increasingly difficult versions of dungeons to earn rewards on par with the game’s most difficult raiding content. Usually, the goal of earning all of the season’s Mythic+ achievements and claiming special seasonal rewards is one that lasts for weeks or months into a season.

That’s not exactly the case in Midnight Season 1. This season’s Mythic+ dungeons have been far easier than normal, with WoW-focused enthusiast site Icy Veins even calling it the easiest Mythic+ season ever (and offering up plenty of data from Raider.IO to support the point). More keys are being completed at a higher difficulty than in any previous Mythic+ season, meaning many players within the season’s first two weeks have already claimed all the rewards for reaching certain Mythic+ rating thresholds.

Blizzard, in response, is adding some additional goalposts, community manager Linxy revealed in a forum post. In the upcoming patch 12.0.5, Blizzard is adding two new Mythic+ achievements and additional mount rewards for those who complete them. The Keystone Myth achievement will be awarded to those who earn 3,400 Mythic+ rating in the season. Doing so will reward a Timelost Saddle (once per account) that can be exchanged for previous Keystone Master and Keystone Legend seasonal mounts, as well as a few new mounts to sweeten the deal.

Those players who push even further beyond and find themselves in the top 1% of Mythic+ rating at the end of the season will earn another new achievement, Umbral Champion, that will reward another exclusive mount.

“We want to give dedicated Mythic+ players something that continues to feel rewarding over time, while also creating a path to revisit some older rewards you may have missed along the way,” Linxy writes.

Just because a 3,400 Mythic+ rating is needed for this season doesn’t mean that will be the case going forward. Linxy states that since Mythic+ evolves each season, Blizzard wants to ensure the Keystone Myth achievement continues to offer “a similar level of difficulty and prestige each time.” Future seasons could require even higher ratings as a result, though there is also the possibility it could be lower as well.

As for why Midnight Season 1’s Mythic+ dungeons are so much easier than previous seasons, there are perhaps a few reasons. For starters, there are less-punishing affixes to deal with, and Blizzard seems to have undertuned the dungeons just a tad in the wake of eliminating most combat-assisting add-ons. In lower Mythic+ keys, tanks are actually led on a golden path that helps route them through the dungeon, making low-level keys a breeze. It also helps that gearing up to take on Mythic+ itself has never been easier, with better rewards from Delves and the new Prey system making earning endgame gear easy even when playing solo.

In addition to new Mythic+ goals, patch 12.0.5 when it arrives April 21 will offer new solo content in the form of Void Assaults, as well as WoW’s own take on prop hunt. It will also add a great new option for transmog enthusiasts.
