The LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight development team shared a glimpse of what the iconic Batcave will look like in the upcoming game, and what players will be able to do in it. In short, the Batcave will be the place that LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight players will go to see all the collectibles the game has to offer.
In the wider lore of the Batman franchise, the Batcave is considered the private headquarters of Batman and his allies. True to its name, the Batcave is an underground cave system located beneath Wayne Manor, where colonies of bats call home. Despite its various iterations over the years, including the Batcaves featured in the Batman: Arkham games, Batman’s secret hideout has some consistent features. These features include an arsenal containing Batman’s suits and gadgets, the highly advanced Batcomputer, and a garage for the Batmobile and other vehicles. Most of these features will also be in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight in some capacity.

LEGO Batman’s New Batcave Will Grow Alongside The Dark Knight Himself
Ahead of the May 22 launch of LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, developer TT Games offered a look at what players will be able to do in the upcoming title’s iteration of the Batcave. In a dev diary video narrated by Jonathan Smith, the Strategic Director and Head of Development Team at TT Games, players were treated to a new look at the Batcave. LEGO Batman‘s latest version of the Batcave will serve as the main collectible hub that players will build up in true LEGO fashion, brick by brick. Excavations deeper into the Batcave will be unlocked as LEGO Batman‘s story unfolds, allowing Batman to build an arsenal of Batsuits, a garage of Batmobiles, and more. The Batcave will also allow Batman to upgrade his iconic gadgets, including Batarangs and Explosive Gel.
The Batsuits that players can collect are all based on costumes that Batman has worn over the years in various comic books, TV shows, movies, and other games. One of the Batsuits that will appear in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is the Absolute Batman version, where Batman is depicted as a tough-as-nails crime fighter that did not come from wealth, and instead worked as a civil engineer before becoming a rugged vigilante. The LEGO depiction of Absolute Batman is joined by Absolute Catwoman as two of the costumes from Scott Snyder’s Absolute Universe that players can unlock.
The Batcave Contains Plenty of Callbacks for Batman Fans to Enjoy
Additionally, the Batcomputer will serve as a repository that LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight players can refer to as they progress through the game. The Batcomputer will include access to case files on characters that will appear in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Trophies can also be displayed in the Batcave, and some humorous furnishings such as a personal gym can also be built to give Batman’s hideout some additional flourishes.
