Everyone that’s even seen a James Bond film wishes they could have even one iota of the man’s coolness, whether it’s the classic Sean Connery or the modern Daniel Craig. It’s a hard vibe to capture–after all, not everyone can but you might feel a glimmer of it when you hold the new limited edition 007 First Light DualSense Wireless Controller, which opens up for preorder on April 17 at 10 am local time.
007 First Light DualSense Wireless Controller
$85 | May 27
With a sleek gold finish and the 007 logo emblazoned on the touchpad, this controller is uncommonly good looking–much like Bond himself. Created to commemorate the upcoming launch of the new Bond game for PlayStation 5, 007 First Light, it would make a handsome addition to any controller collection. Design aside, you’ll also enjoy the razor-sharp responsiveness of the adaptive triggers and the realism of haptic feedback, which are hallmarks of the DualSense.
PlayStation Blog reports that this beauty can be purchased via direct.playstation.com. It will be released on May 27 to coincide with the release of 007 First Light.
As longtime fans of Bond games will recall, the last time the series got a signature controller was way back when Goldeneye was released in 2010 for the Nintendo Wii. That controller was solid gold with no logos and wired, so we’d say this one is a luxe upgrade.
It’s no wonder the game is getting its own signature controller, as it’s the first Bond game since 007 Legends, which was released way back in 2012. It was a commercial flop, leading to Activision’s loss of the license. But when Hitman developer IO Interactive pitched IP owner Eon Productions with a new vision for the franchise in 2021, Eon liked what it heard, and 007 First Light is the result.
If you’ve been waiting for the game’s release, you may have heard that new leaks hit a few days ago that revealed big chunks of story, as well as the ending, so tread carefully in your internet travels if you don’t want to get spoiled.
