One of the worst kept secret’s in gaming–according to Ubisoft’s own admission–will be unveiled on April 23, with Ubisoft confirming that’s the date for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s upcoming remake/remaster.
The “Worldwide Reveal Showcase” for the game, called Resynced, will debut on YouTube that day at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET. Ubisoft’s teaser video called Resynced “gaming’s worst-kept secret.”
Ubisoft confirmed Resynced back in March as part of a wider announcement about the franchise in general, showing off a piece of concept art depicting Edward Kenway standing on a ship’s mast (see below).
Resynced is apparently set to launch on July 9 for modern platforms. The game has supposedly been “completely reworked” with a bunch of new content and “looks awesome.”
What Resynced might not include is the original game’s modern-day sections where players explore the Abstergo Entertainment offices. Some of those storylines were pivotal to the game’s overall narrative. The new version may, however, include additional story beats for the pirate character Mary Read.
Resynced will be announced just as another pirate game, Windrose, is heating up. The game launched earlier in April and sold 1 million copies right away.
As for the wider Assassin’s Creed franchise, Ubisoft has numerous other games in the works, including the “darker” Assassin’s Creed codenamed Hexe as well as the multiplayer game codenamed Invictus. What’s more, Ubisoft is working with Netflix on an Assassin’s Creed live-action show.
