Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick continues to tease fans who are patiently waiting for new details on Grand Theft Auto 6, this time revealing that he was recently shown an early preview of the game by Rockstar, describing it as “amazing.” While the team behind Grand Theft Auto 6 has remained tight-lipped on the massively anticipated project, Zelnick, who is the CEO of Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has touched upon the title multiple times in recent interviews.
While much of what Zelnick says is business jargon, often said during the company’s quarterly earnings call, the CEO does occasionally give his opinion on what will undoubtedly be the biggest video game release of all time. Just last week, Zelnick admitted that he is personally terrified of Grand Theft Auto 6‘s release. Specifically, the CEO discussed meeting the expectations of the gaming community. Given that it has been 13 years since the powerhouse that is Grand Theft Auto 5 released, fans are expecting something out of this world for its successor. And although Rockstar is known for seeking nothing short of perfection, some gamers have expectations that are simply unreasonable. Such as rumors that claim most of the game’s buildings will be enterable.
Grand Theft Auto 6 Fans Are Betting On Another Release Date Delay
Grand Theft Auto 6 fans are putting money on whether or not the upcoming open-world game from Rockstar makes it November 19 release date.
Take-Two CEO Describes GTA 6 Preview as “Amazing”
In the past, Zelnick has been open about the fact that he’s not a gamer. Given that he’s the head of one of gaming’s biggest companies, this might come as a surprise to many. But Zelnick has become one of the biggest executives in media, with a long experience running film, music, and video game studios. So, when asked by Game File’s Stephen Totilo in a recent interview if he had played Grand Theft Auto 6 this year, Zelnick reiterated that he is “not a gamer,” but did say that Rockstar has demoed the game for him. The CEO was then asked how the game was shaping up, to which Zelnick cited the “amazing” trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, before saying he will “leave it at that.”

Famously, Rockstar does not use CGI footage for its trailers, which means everything seen in Grand Theft Auto 6‘s first two trailers is exactly how it will look in-game. But, with that being said, fans still haven’t seen any raw gameplay from the title, and with less than 200 days to go until its launch, fans are beginning to get impatient.
Thankfully, the wait should be almost over. Rockstar itself hasn’t stated when it will show more from its big release, but Take-Two Interactive’s CEO has previously confirmed that marketing for Grand Theft Auto 6 will begin in the Summer. Although Summer technically begins at the end of June, fans are hoping that Trailer 3 will be shown sometime this month, as Take-Two is gearing up for its next quarterly earnings call on May 21. Zelnick also recently doubled down on the marketing plans for GTA 6 and said that more will be shared “soon.”

Exactly how long Zelnick’s idea of “soon” is remains a mystery, but with it now being an entire year since the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 2, many are hoping that the wait is almost over. As if a 13-year wait between titles wasn’t already excruciating, Grand Theft Auto 6 has been delayed multiple times now, making matters worse. When it was initially revealed in 2023, Rockstar was aiming for a Fall 2025 launch. As expected, the studio delayed its release to May 26, 2026, followed by a second delay, this time pushing GTA 6 to November 19, 2026.
