Amazon Prime God of War Series Releases First Look At Kratos and Atreus Actors

God of War is one of the most popular video game franchises of the last several decades. The popular series is now receiving an official TV adaption on Amazon Prime and fans are optimistically cautious about the upcoming project. Prime Video just revealed their first look at God of War, and many of the fans’ largest criticisms have been instantly quelled.

Both Ryan Hurst and Callum Vinson look as though they’re straight out of the God of War games. Many fans were wishing the series would cover some of Kratos’ earlier exploits, but that’s entirely possible through the use of flashbacks. Nonetheless, the spot-on appearance of both Hurst’s Kratos and Vinson’s Atreus has left fans without a lot to complain about.

Many Fans Believe They Truly Nailed the Characters’ Likenesses

Since successfully bringing the Fallout franchise to the television world, Amazon Prime has been looking for a new series to adapt. The company believes they have found their next big success in the form of the God of War series of games. While the first few titles are likely too brutal to cover completely, the later entries in the series are perfect for an ongoing show.

Fans were initially crushed when it was revealed that the original Kratos voice actor wouldn’t reprise his role in the live-action. Yet, the studio’s first look at the series reveals that they clearly made the right decisions when it comes to casting. The revealed image depicts a focused, but calm Ryan Hurst as Kratos guiding Callum Vinson’s clearly anxious Atreus on how to shoot a bow and arrow. The scene comes straight out of the games and has led many people to begin singing the series’ praises.

All that in mind, the series isn’t set for release until the next year or possibly even after. A late-2027 release is the earliest fans can likely hope to expect for the upcoming series, but that doesn’t mean anticipation has died down. Amazon’s recent promotional image has only sparked a greater fire in the hearts of fans wildly waiting for the upcoming television series.

Based on the popular Fallout show, fans have assumed the series will be an accurate retelling of the game’s story. The promotional image only supported that claim, with Kratos and Atreus literally recreating a scene from the games. This has led many fans to believe that the dialogue and course of events might be slightly different, but the core story will reveal the same. That said, the television series will likely focus more on the emotional elements the games only scratch the surface of.

God of War TV Show Leak Reveals Who Might Play Baldur and Thor

God of War fans curious about the upcoming Amazon adaptation, as a leak has potentially revealed who will be playing two of the Norse gods.

Kratos is far from the ideal father figure, but he rises to the occasion better than most. He longs for his son to be better than he ever was, because Kratos hates himself more than any of his enemies ever could. This relationship is a key part of the popular modern God of War games and will likely be the crux of the upcoming television series. The former God of War must toe the line between protecting his son and becoming the vicious man he used to be.

Ultimately, now that Amazon has begun to officially promote the series, more eyes are on the project than ever. While this could’ve led to a disastrous first look, akin to the live-action Sonic movie, Amazon seems to have nailed it on the first try. Cleary, adapting the Fallout franchise has given the studio a clearer idea about what formula finds success among the fanbase. Hopefully, they will adapt this idea for the God of War series and any other games they decide to tackle in the future.
