ARC Raiders Dev Discusses Possibility of Adding Saved Loadouts

ARC Raiders Dev Discusses Possibility of Adding Saved Loadouts

Embark Studios says it is “super aware” of player demands for a saved loadout feature in its hit extraction shooter, ARC Raiders, suggesting that the team could be considering adding the highly requested UI change in a future update. While ARC Raiders has been a massive success for developer Embark, fans have voiced their thoughts on the game’s interface and menu design, calling for the studio to make some major improvements as part of the ongoing post-launch support.

While ARC Raiders had somewhat of a rocky development, being restarted and reimagined as a PvPvE title, Embark’s decision to delay the title and reimagine it has clearly paid off. Since its launch in October, which some speculated would be a disaster due to it being smack bang in the middle of Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, ARC Raiders has sold over 12 million copies to date and achieved some monumental records. The extraction shooter not only has rave reviews from both players and critics, remaining one of Steam’s most-played games at the time of writing, but it also picked up Best Multiplayer Game at the 2025 Game Awards, cementing itself as a standout hit in the live-service genre.

ARC Raiders Is Finally Cracking Down on Cheaters

The ARC Raiders cheating saga continues, as developer Embark Studios ups its anti-cheat measures by permanently banning those caught cheating.

ARC Raiders Devs Know Players Want Saved Loadouts

With hundreds of thousands of players jumping into ARC Raiders every single day, it’s only natural for many of them to have some requests that they believe would make the game an even more enjoyable experience. While Embark releases new content updates for ARC Raiders regularly, one of the things players want to see the most is an improvement to the shooter’s UI that would allow them to save their loadouts and spend less time in Speranaza and more time Topside. This is something Embark is well aware of, as the game’s design lead Virgil Watkins recently told GamesRadar that the studio has “talked about” the feature and is “super aware” of the demands from players.

Like most extraction shooters, ARC Raiders is all about inventory management and looting the best gear and items you can find. However, this can often result in more time spent in the main menu than actually in a raid. When asked if the studio has any intention of attempting to reduce the amount of time in the menu by adding things like saved loadouts, Watkins said, “all of this stuff is things we’ve talked about.” He goes on to explain how it is not currently in the game because it comes down to developers and time available before launch. “Now it’s just really feeling out how we can prioritize it against other known things we need to do, or swapping priorities of something we were going to do with this based on what’s feasible,” he said.

When the interviewer explained how they would often use a free loadout in ARC Raiders to avoid spending time creating a new loadout, Watkins admitted that he has done the exact same thing and said “it’s completely acknowledged,” in regards to complaints from fans about how many clicks it takes to setup a new loadout. When discussing saved loadouts, the developer says it’s a “completely valuable thing” but does note that he “won’t speak for [Embark’s] UI/UX team.”

So while a saved loadout feature is unlikely to be added to the game in the next few weeks, Embark is definitely aware of the requests and seems all for the addition. As for what’s next, rumors suggest that the studio is gearing up to release a new Toxic Swamp map modifier as part of a new update this week. The most recent patch came on January 13, finally nerfing the Trigger Nade after the item dominated nearly every PvP encounter for weeks. Update 1.11.0 also saw a reduction to the Kettle’s fire rate after some users were abusing macros to shoot the weapon much faster than intended.
