Assassin’s Creed Fans Are Demanding Ubisoft Reveal Black Flag Resynced

Fans are getting restless for the official reveal of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, the long-awaited remake of Ubisoft’s high-seas adventure starring pirate captain extraordinaire Edward Kenway. A new tidal wave of posts across social media signals fans’ excitement over the Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remake, making it appear to be one of the most highly anticipated games of early 2026.

Rumors have been swirling about a remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag for years, but they were stirred up again in summer 2025 after a video of a fan interaction with Edward Kenway voice actor Matt Ryan teased that players “may have to beat it again.” The game had also been the topic of numerous leaks, including one revealing its estimated release window, which projects its launch before the end of March 2026. That reveal seems to have been spurred by the European video game content rating system PEGI making mention of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, coupled with Ubisoft’s plans to release an unannounced game in that timeframe. But despite the apparent deadline being less than three full months away, there has still been no official reveal of the upcoming game, and fans across social media are restlessly sounding off, eager for a glimpse of what such a remake will look and feel like.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is Built with the Remains of Skull and Bones, the Wins of AC Shadows

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag may be getting a remake soon, which will reportedly incorporate elements from both AC Shadows and Skull and Bones.

Assassin’s Creed Fans Are Hungry for Black Flag Resynced

Released at the end of October 2013, Black Flag is still counted among the best Assassin’s Creed games in the minds of many fans, with its multifaceted gameplay that divides players’ time between naval battles, classic Assassin’s Creed stealth and assassination segments, and high-seas activities like harpoon fishing and bell diving. That popularity is resulting in numerous recent posts on social media platforms calling for the game’s official announcement and a sneak peek at what might be in store. One recent Tweet from the game’s official account, which asks players to choose between the settings of four different games in the series, has had many players choosing none of the above, instead expressing their love for the adventure in the Carribean isles and hoping to return to it soon.

With the timing of the recent leaks, many fans expected a Black Flag remake trailer at The Game Awards 2025, but the annual awards show came and went with no Kenway sightings. Seeing that as a major missed opportunity, and believing in the rumors, a lot of fans seem to be getting antsy for their first look at the game, with many wondering why Ubisoft seems to be dragging its feet on the big reveal. Images and GIFs of the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland are somewhat of a common theme among these posts, signifying that fans feel the clock is ticking for Ubisoft to provide visual confirmation of a game they’ve waited patiently for.

Some fans are embracing the piratical nature of the game’s source material, as it features numerous real-life pirates, and reports suggest that Black Flag Resynced could add cut Mary Read content that never made its way to players in the original 2013 classic. Along with Kenway himself, many fans have been posting images and short clips of their favorite real-world pirates from the game, and one has even issued a humorous ultimatum to Ubisoft, stating that he will drain a full bottle of rum daily until the official reveal finally reaches the fans.

There are still some upcoming opportunities for Ubisoft to unveil Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. Some are hoping it will be the surprise star at the Xbox Developer Direct set for January 22. There is no official confirmation yet on which platforms will support the remake, though speculation points to a launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Xbox Game Pass’ recent partnership with Ubisoft+, including the addition of a bunch of Assassin’s Creed games last October, could make the Developer Direct a great opportunity for the reveal, and the showcase’s smaller size compared to The Game Awards might even justify potentially delaying the first trailer in the minds of fans. Still, if it appears in that Developer Direct, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will have to compete for gamers’ attention with the likes of Fable, Forza Horizon 6, and upcoming Game Freak action-RPG Beast of Reincarnation.
