Assassin's Creed Shadows Roadmap Includes Major Update, A Parkour Challenge, And Switch 2 DLC

Ubisoft has released its roadmap for Assassin’s Creed Shadows through to the end of March, showing off the game’s next title update, a parkour challenge for players to compete in, and a release date for the game’s DLC on Switch 2.

The game’s next title update lands on February 17–that’s tomorrow–and will introduce three new additions to the game, all of them significant in their own way. The first is a detailed stats page, which can be accessed from the inventory, which will let you dig into all the stats relating to your loadout at a micro level. If you want to examine exactly how much damage you can do, all the buffs you’ve assigned and really examine your equipment’s cumulative effects, this will make doing so much easier.

Critical hits are also getting a visual upgrade. The enemy health bar flashes on a critcal hit now, and animations are a little “snappier”, so you’ll have a better sense of how often your weapons are doing huge damage.

Perhaps the most substantial addition in the update is the manual jump option, which will be added when you turn on the “advanced parkour” option in the game’s menu. This new feature will let you jump anytime, anywhere, so you can craft your own parkour routes with more fluidity.

To celebrate this new feature, Ubisoft has announced a Parkour Challenge, where players can create and submit videos of up to 60 seconds showcasing their favourite parkour runs using the manual jump. There will be prizes for the best videos, including signed vinyl albums, figurines, and swag, and the wider community will vote on a winner. The full set of rules is available here.

The roadmap also reveals that the Switch 2 version of Assassin’s Creed Shadows will receive the game’s DLC expansion, Claws of Awaji, on March 10, which contains a new area and missions for Yasuke and Naoe to complete.

The Assassin’s Creed series has been doing well lately, thanks in part to the strong reviews of Shadows and the success of its Switch 2 port. Ubisoft more broadly, however, has been in strife, with over 1,200 employees at the company recently staging a walkout over the company’s recent restructuring, its plans for future layoffs, and a new return-to-office mandate. The company recently canceled multiple projects, including its long-in-development Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake.
