Baldur’s Gate 3 Update Adds New Free Content for Console Players

Baldur’s Gate 3 Update Adds New Free Content for Console Players

Larian has approved 19 new Baldur’s Gate 3 mods for console players to enjoy, including several unique subclasses. Although Larian’s official support for Baldur’s Gate 3 has largely wound down, the developer continues to make new batches of mods available to download on console.

In the wake of Baldur’s Gate 3‘s wildly successful release, Larian released official modding tools for talented creators to bring their own ideas to life. This has made Baldur’s Gate 3 one of the best games to mod, especially on PC, where there are tens of thousands of custom-made pieces of content to improve and add to the CRPG in different ways. On console, mods need to be manually approved for release via the in-game mod menu. While this does mean they’re fewer in quantity, it also means that players can expect a certain level of quality from these mods.

Baldur’s Gate 3’s Worst Act Has All Gamers in Agreement

Baldur’s Gate 3 players have different opinions on seemingly everything which — except Act is the worst of the D&D-based bunch.

Baldur’s Gate 3 on Console Adds 19 New Mods

The latest batch of Baldur’s Gate 3 mods on console have been released, after getting the thumbs-up from developer Larian. There are 19 in total, which are as follows:

  • Backgrounds Unlocked
  • Bane’s Cane: A Cane Weapon For Archduke Gortash
  • Cleric and Domains PHB2024
  • College of Command: A Bard Subclass
  • D&D Classic Dice Set
  • DMH Assets Rathgor: Dark Urge Dragonborn CC
  • Easy Toggle Tutorial Chest
  • Florrick: Dirt B Gone
  • Full Party Statue Buff
  • Githyanki Psionics
  • Hellcleaver: Barbarian Subclass
  • Isobel Restyled
  • Monks: Bonus Unarmed Strike
  • Poesielibre’s Additional Natural Hair Colors
  • Snails Hair
  • Squire Evolved
  • Transmogrify Dark Urge: Slayer Equipment
  • Way of the Forge: A Monk Subclass
  • Weightless Immediate Tutorial Chest

Most of the mods are pretty small additions. However, it is the smaller mods that often result in the biggest gameplay changes. Notably, the latest Baldur’s Gate 3 console mod drop includes three new Subclasses: Hellcleaver: Barbarian Subclass, College of Command: A Bard Subclass, and Way of the Forge: A Monk Subclass. They provide a new way to build Tav over the course of a playthrough, which is perfect for those who have exhausted all their options and are looking for something completely fresh.

Interestingly, this drop previously contained a mod named Shadar-Kai race, which added a Shadar-Kai race with Netherese and Elven variants. However, it was quickly delisted by Larian, causing some confusion on the mod’s download page. As a rule, Baldur’s Gate 3 race mods have not been approved on console, so it’s interesting that this one made it through before being pulled. It’s unclear why the mod was quickly made unavailable for download, or whether it will return in the future.

Baldur's Gate 3 Mod Restores Tons of Cut Content Image via Larian Studios

It’s great to see the variety in the Baldur’s Gate 3 modding scene. There are the small quality-of-life additions, which when used together, can add up to make a huge difference to the gameplay experience. On the other side of the coin, there are massive Baldur’s Gate 3 campaign mods, often recreating popular Dungeons and Dragons campaigns in the CRPG. These won’t be for everyone, but that’s the great thing about modding – it’s so personal to the user, meaning everyone’s game looks different when using mods.

It has been almost three years since the release of Baldur’s Gate 3. In the time since, developer Larian has continued to release updates for the game, although its support is now largely done. It has since moved on to the development of Divinity, the next chapter in its own fantasy CRPG franchise. The suggestion upon its announcement at The Game Awards 2025 was that Divinity is going to be even bigger than Baldur’s Gate 3, which is sure to be exciting for fans of the studio’s most recent title.
