Battlefield 6 Players Upset Over Accidental In-Game Message

Battlefield 6 Players Upset Over Accidental In-Game Message

For the second time in one month, Battlefield 6 updated its in-game messaging to say that fans are finally getting the XP boost change they have been asking for, only to have it ripped away after being identified as an error. Battlefield 6 is finishing up its third season of content, delivering its final patches before the next season starts at the end of July.

EA launched Battlefield 6 in the fall of 2025, breaking multiple franchise records in the process. Since then, Battlefield 6 has released three seasons of content, with its most recent one including the return of fan-favorite Battlefield 4 map Golmud Railway, but reworked for a new era. However, things haven’t been smooth sailing for the shooter, as fans have been somewhat displeased with the game’s direction since launch, claiming that updates have been bare-bones and that multiple launch-day bugs still need fixing. To make matters worse, Battlefield 6‘s latest error has rubbed many fans the wrong way.

Battlefield 6 XP Booster Error Leaves Players Frustrated Once Again

On June 30, 2026, Battlefield 6 launched Title Update 1.3.3.0, which appeared to finally give players what they had been asking for since the game released: XP boosts that are contingent on in-game time and not real time. Players logging into Battlefield 6 in the early hours of June 30 could see a very clear message that XP boosts had been reworked in this manner, but unfortunately, the development team had to clarify that this was not the case. On Twitter, the Battlefield Comms account posted that the studio had identified this as an error and that there are no changes to XP Boosts in Battlefield 6 as of now.

This isn’t the first time fans have had their hopes up only to be disappointed; the game had the exact same issue earlier in the month when Battlefield 6 launched Cairo Bazaar. On June 9, Title Update 1.3.2.0 updated the in-game description for XP Boosts to say that they will rely on the in-game clock to count down, before similarly getting an official response from Battlefield Comms reneging on the change. On the plus side, the Twitter account states that the studio is taking feedback into account on this matter, especially since fans are unhappy that they were accidentally rug-pulled twice.

Fans online have seemingly burned through some banked XP boosts, believing that this change would mean they could keep their boosts active without worrying about them running out if they had to log off. Fans returning to the game multiple hours, or even a day later, in some instances, were met with burned XP boosts with nothing to show for them. Needless to say, the response on Twitter and Reddit hasn’t been very positive. As Battlefield 6 continues to take fan feedback into account throughout a rather challenging period in its current lifecycle, hopefully, the response to these erroneous messages hits home with the studio.

Of course, given that the in-game messaging is already created and ready to go, fans have been speculating that an XP boost change may be in the works, and that these pop-ups were added prematurely. An XP Boost rework that makes the clock contingent on in-game time would be a no-brainer, considering that fans have been asking for it since launch. Season 4 of Battlefield 6 starts later in July, so fans will just have to wait and see what comes next for EA’s flagship shooter.
