The brand-new Battlefield 6 mode, Operation Augur, is here, and players who have yet to check it out have plenty of details to look over before jumping into the action. Battlefield 6 has been a return to form for a lot of longtime players, and the addition of Operation Augur might be one of the biggest modes that the game has seen yet.
Battlefield 6 Season 2 has been well underway since February, with three update phases planned for the season’s duration. The third phase goes live today with the Hunter/Prey update. The first phase added features like the Contaminated map, while the second phase brought forth some fun additions that included the Hagental Base map and dirt bikes. Battlefield 6‘s April update is closing out the phases with a bang, though, as the arrival of Operation Augur pays homage to a beloved franchise mode with a revamped vibe.

Battlefield 6 Launches Operation Augur and Releases Deeper Details About the Mode
Yesterday, Battlefield Studios released an in-depth preview of Operation Augur to prepare players for the brand-new mode. What makes this game mode so special is that it’s a multi-map setup that combines Battlefield 6‘s Contaminated map and Hagental Base that were added in earlier Season 2 phases into one epic battle. It’s a culmination of everything that the season has worked to build up, and it will also serve as a throwback for fans who have been waiting for developers to add an Operations-like mode to Battlefield 6.
A Brief Rundown of How Operation Augur Works
- Sector-focused combat and defense
- Features nine total sectors between Contaminated and Hagental Base
- No respawns on controlled objectives
- Three battalions
In order to officially win Operation Augur, Pax Armata forces have to beat all three of the NATO battalions. On the flip side, NATO forces have to capture all nine sectors that are being controlled by Pax Armata. The new Battlefield 6 maps being put in the spotlight task players with defending or attacking every possible corner, and each side is going to have to approach every sector differently.
Operation Augur is filled with action, but the mode isn’t simply a guns-blazing approach. It also means that players will have to strategize properly in order to get the upper hand. Defense will see benefits from using items like landmines to fend off NATO, while vehicles and methodical attacks will be the key to breaking through Pax Armata forces. Battlefield 6‘s gas masks are also necessary for the first Contaminated-focused stage, while Hagental Base presents the chance to blind enemy players with smoke grenades in close-quarters situations.

Operation Augur offers diverse gameplay, which is likely to keep a lot of players immersed in the two-stage battle. Since its launch, the Battlefield 6 player count has dropped from its massive debut numbers, but Operation Augur can hopefully attract the attention of those who haven’t played the game in a while. Despite the falling numbers, Battlefield 6 is still a major success, and it’s going to be interesting to see what Season 3 has in store after Operation Augur has some time to shine.
