Former Vice President of the Destiny Universe Mark Noseworthy has recently taken to social media to praise CD Projekt Red’s announcement of a new Witcher 3: Wild Hunt expansion over a decade after the game’s original launch. Noseworthy calls the Witcher 3 announcement a “great idea on a couple of levels,” before praising the studio’s ability to breathe new life into the Witcher brand ahead of The Witcher 4‘s release in the coming years.
On May 27, CD Projekt Red officially announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, a third expansion for the award-winning 2015 action-RPG that was first leaked last summer. This upcoming third Witcher 3 expansion is set to release in 2027 and will see players assume the role of Geralt of Rivia once more. There’s currently no concrete information on what the expansion’s story will encompass, but CD Projekt Red has teased that it’ll go some way in bridging the gap between The Witcher 3 and The Witcher 4.

Mark Noseworthy Praises Witcher 3: Songs of the Past Reveal
Shortly following CD Projekt Red’s official announcement of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past, Mark Noseworthy took to Twitter to commend the Polish studio’s reveal. Noseworthy first praises the reveal for managing to get the Witcher brand back in the gaming zeitgeist and grow the potential audience ahead of The Witcher 4‘s eventual release. Noseworthy points out that “half a generation” of gamers weren’t even old enough to play The Witcher 3 when it initially launched back in 2015.

Noseworthy’s Twitter post also points out that this new Witcher 3 DLC will give CD Projekt Red a partner developer it can enlist to help on The Witcher 4‘s development, as they’ll have had “their reps.” Noseworthy is referring to Fool’s Theory here, a smaller Polish studio formed by ex-CD Projekt Red devs. Following the studio’s work on Seven: The Days Long Gone and The Thaumaturge, Fool’s Theory has been put in charge of the upcoming Witcher 1 Remake, and is now confirmed to be co-developing this new Witcher 3 expansion alongside CD Projekt Red.

Noseworthy held this leadership position for almost four years. But unfortunately, in July 2024, Noseworthy was let go as part of Bungie’s mass layoffs, which affected a total of 220 developers. According to several reports at the time, Noseworthy was working on Payback (a third-person Destiny spinoff) before he was laid off and the project was shut down.
