Bethesda Is Teasing Starfield News For Next Week

Bethesda has dropped a small tease for Starfield fans that hints at an impending announcement. First released in September 2023, Starfield is Bethesda’s first original IP in many years, with the studio behind Fallout and The Elder Scrolls bringing its tried and true formula to space for the first time.

Though Starfield was praised by many critics upon the game’s release, fans were left with a more mixed response to the massive action RPG. Though the game presents a wide array of planets and solar systems to explore, many of its environments, warehouses, and enemy bases felt repetitive to players, while space exploration had less depth than the experience many had hoped for. Despite these and other criticisms, Starfield was deemed Bethesda’s biggest new game launch after its release, quickly rising in the ranks as one of 2023’s best-selling titles. The game has retained a large following with high hopes for its future plans.

Bethesda Tweets a Teaser Hinting at a Big Starfield Announcement Next Week

Bethesda has dropped a small tease alluding to an announcement about Starfield’s future coming next week. In a tweet posted to the official Bethesda Game Studios Twitter account on March 13, 2026, the studio responded to an interview with Starfield‘s composer in which he referred to the game’s director Todd Howard as a “visionary.” Despite jokingly brushing aside the claim, the studio expressed appreciation for the continued support of Starfield and proclaimed that Howard would have more news to share with fans next week.

The news should come as a welcome surprise to fans who have been eagerly awaiting Starfield‘s next massive update, which has been rumored to arrive in 2026. The game’s first major expansion, Shattered Space, arrived in September 2024 with a brand-new mission set primarily on a single planet. Along with the new narrative content, the DLC also came with a host of new content added to Startfield’s base gameplay, including new enemies, weapons, factions, and even new star systems to explore. Despite all the additions included in Shattered Space, many fans felt that the expansion simply provided more of the game’s usual brand of content, rather than fixing the issues that players had with the game.

After Shattered Space’s poor reception among Starfield fans, the game has an opportunity with its second major DLC to further build upon its formula. Although interviews and rumors suggest that the next major DLC pack coming to Starfield may be another round of content for existing fans, as opposed to a major overhaul that attempts to draw new players, the game has an opportunity to improve its existing systems and add more varied content in a way that further fulfills its original promise. Starfield may have disappointed some players who had hoped for a different style of gameplay, but it can ensure its existing fans keep coming back to the game with continued updates over time.

Bethesda’s tease of a pending announcement is appropriate, considering the fact that rumors have begun to heat up once again about Starfield‘s imminent PS5 release. If these rumors are true, the game will be launching for Sony’s console very soon, and a large batch of additional content could make it an even more appealing product for an expanding player base. Despite all the controversy surrounding the game, Starfield is a massive title that appeals to fans of space-based exploration and Bethesda’s most loyal followers alike. The game is sure to draw in waves of curious new players as it continues to build upon its foundation.
