Following the recent State of Play, PS5 owners now have several upcoming console exclusives to look forward to from August to October. As most developers avoid launching anywhere near the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6, September 2026 already looks absolutely stacked, with possibly even more titles getting release dates for September down the road.
Note that not every upcoming PS5 game has a firm release date just yet, including several anticipated titles that were slated for 2026, like Kena: Scars of Kosmora. Not to mention ambitious announced titles that still seem “for the future,” like God of War Laufey, Until Dawn 2, and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls
Coming to PS5 and PC on August 6
Easily one of the most visually arresting games in the upcoming PS5 line-up, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls benefits greatly from Arc System Works’ distinct and bold visual style — seemingly ideal for a comic book superhero fighting game. Judging by what we’ve seen, blistering action comes to life spectacularly as iconic Marvel heroes, rendered in a new anime-inspired style, clash on screen, bringing colorful ultimate attacks for some epic destruction and godlike standoffs.
6 Marvel Games That Are Bonafide 10/10 Masterpieces
The best of the best, these games are true must-plays for any Marvel fans and ordinary players alike.
With 20 superheroes available day one, from Amazing Guardians to Knights of Doom, players won’t have problems picking their favorites for a tag team of four, experimenting with their synergies and combos, and gradually switching their fighters during the match. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is also shaping up to be a long-supported title, gradually adding new heroes, costumes, stages, and even game modes post-launch. For the first year, fans can expect four extra characters, possibly tying into some of the biggest Marvel premieres of 2027. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is a PS5 console exclusive and won’t be available on Xbox platforms. However, the game is also launching on PC. Will it take the crown for the best Marvel fighting game? We’ll find out pretty soon, but I’d say the chances of that are pretty high.
Marvel’s Wolverine
Coming Only to PS5 on September 15
One of the biggest stars of the recent State of Play, Marvel’s Wolverine is undoubtedly the most anticipated first-party PlayStation game of 2026, coming almost a year after the company’s last big success, Ghost of Yotei. Following Sony’s new (or rather old) policy of not releasing its biggest titles on other platforms in hopes of maximizing their system-selling value, Marvel’s Wolverine will be available only on PS5 and won’t be ported to PC. Given the current hype surrounding the game, as well as Insomniac’s strong superhero pedigree, Wolverine will probably end up as another massive PS5 hit.
All Big Upcoming PS5 Games For 2026 & Beyond
From JRPGs to platform, racing, and open-world titles, here are all the big new PS5 games releasing in 2026 and later.
Marvel’s Wolverine isn’t an open-world game, and the major draw here is definitely its bloody, gory action (which you can still disable, if you wish). True to Wolverine’s name, the combat is fast, fluid, and absolutely brutal, allowing players to instantly finish enemies with their claws, cut off limbs, and use their rage meter to regenerate when on the verge of death. Combined with traditionally spectacular Hollywood-style set pieces and impressive location variety, Marvel’s Wolverine looks like a very solid cinematic action-adventure offering, even though it somewhat lacks freshness and a distinct style of its own, appearing a bit too same-y to Insomniac’s Spider-Man titles.
Silent Hill: Townfall
Coming to PS5 and PC on September 24
Revived in 2024, Silent Hill is currently on a really hot streak, so it’ll be interesting to see whether the upcoming Silent Hill: Townfall can live up to the high bar set by both Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill f before. At the very least, fans shouldn’t worry about a lack of originality in Konami’s legendary franchise so far, as each new game looks and feels completely different from the previous one. SH: Townfall is no exception, bringing a claustrophobic first-person perspective, an entirely new setting on St. Amelia Island (Scotland) in 1996, a new protagonist, and fresh gameplay mechanics that blend stealth, combat, and puzzles.
5 FPS Games Coming To PS5 Very Soon
These exciting FPS games are heading to PS5 in the coming weeks, offering a mix of sub-genres for console fans to enjoy.
Playing as Simon Ordell, players will face a new breed of self-contained psychological horror and isolation, having to fight for their lives using a very limited set of weapons (both melee and firearms are confirmed) and tools. Silent Hill: Townfall marks the return of the series’ iconic radio, this time bringing a pocket television (or CRTV) as a major gameplay layer, useful for narrative-driven puzzles such as tuning into unstable signals to gather story fragments and clues about past events. Unlike Silent Hill f, Townfall will be a PS5 console exclusive, skipping Xbox platforms entirely, but will also be available on PC.
Phantom Blade Zero
Coming to PS5 and PC on October 29
Phantom Blade Zero made just a brief appearance during the State of Play, without even announcing the game’s sudden delay from its original release date of September 9. Instead, the devs decided to take some extra time for polish and improvements, with the game now set for October 29. While September definitely looks too crowded already, many fans are now concerned about how this launch window will turn out for the promising action title, crammed between heavy hitters Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and GTA 6.
Nevertheless, Phantom Blade Zero continues to look absolutely stunning, even though it seems like the devs already showed too much of their game. Inspired by the Golden Age of Hong Kong action films, the game promises a blazing-fast, visceral, exhilarating, and choreographically mind-blowing blend of martial arts and melee weapons on a whole new level, which the devs themselves are calling Kungfupunk. Phantom Blade Zero is also seemingly packed with epic boss encounters and a wide variety of weapons to choose from, while Unreal Engine 5 visuals are put to excellent use, delivering its original and dark Wuxia fantasy world. Phantom Blade Zero is announced as a PS5 console exclusive, so it won’t be available on Xbox platforms, but it will also launch on PC.
