Black Ops 2 Strategy Makes a Huge Difference, and It’s PS5 Exclusive

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’s PS5 port is available right now, bringing what many consider to be the peak of the franchise’s multiplayer modes to modern PlayStation consoles. Sure, this BO2 port is missing a couple features like the player counter, theater mode, and League Play, though everything else is present in this version. This means that players have already been flocking to powerful weaponry like the Skorpion EVO, MSMC, and AN-94, though meta weapons are not the only way to get an advantage over the competition. For those looking to dominate their lobbies, PlayStation 5’s enthusiast controller can make a world of difference.

While not everyone has the budget for a $150 controller these days, those that can afford it should certainly consider pairing the Edge with Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. This controller offers a few key advantages over the base DualSense that really shine in this 2012 classic, and it’s especially useful given how a large chunk of the competition won’t have the DualSense Edge to lean on. Because these new ports combine the PS4 and PS5 player bases into a single community, anyone stuck on PS4 will have no chance keeping up with someone using the DualSense Edge to its full potential.

Though the list of Black Ops 2’s best weapons is large, those with a quick trigger finger always cited the FAL as the best of the best, and it’s hard to argue against it when seeing the pros in action. However, not everybody is able to focus on rapid firing their gun while doing everything else required to succeed in CoD, which led to many embracing alternatives like the four-round burst M8A1 instead. Fortunately, with the DualSense Edge, getting access to the scariest possible version of the FAL is a breeze.

One of the DualSense Edge’s most useful features is the option to adjust its adaptive triggers. Sure, PlayStation games making different guns feel more immersive by adjusting how hard players need to hold down the trigger is an incredible feature in casual multiplayer and singleplayer games, but those milliseconds of extra pulling can make a world of difference in a competitive scenario. Those that care about boosting their K/D, then, will appreciate being able to make it so that their triggers hardly need to be pressed to be fired, turning semi-auto guns into rapid fire machines.

Black Ops 2’s DualSense Edge Advantages Don’t Stop at the FAL

In addition to unlocking the full potential of an already strong weapon, the DualSense Edge gives players two back buttons to customize. Since Black Ops 2’s movement is significantly slower — not quite as sluggish as BO1, but still shockingly less face-paced than the omnimovement of today’s games — using the movement tech that does exist is a must. Jumpshotting isn’t recommended due to the delay in movement after a hop, but dropshotting? That’s totally viable, and is something players can do without moving their hands at all so long as crouch is on one of their back buttons. As for the other button, a panic knife option wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Clever usage of the DualSense Edge’s extra buttons and adaptive triggers are two key advantages, but there’s a final benefit to the controller that once again shines in Black Ops 2: custom game profiles. Players can adjust their aim deadzones to ensure they’re perfect for their playstyle in this particular era of Call of Duty, allowing them to snap between targets and gun them down with ease. With how much of an impact the DualSense Edge can have on Black Ops 2 multiplayer gameplay, recommending the usage of it couldn’t be easy enough — assuming the steep price tag isn’t going to be a dealbreaker.
