Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 developer Treyarch Studios has added a new gun to the game as part of its big Season 2 update, which seems to be so overpowered that even if you miss your shots, you might still get the kill. The EGRT-17 is one of the many new weapons that were added to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone this week with its latest seasonal content update, but this Assault Rifle is like one never seen before in the series.

On February 5, Activision and Treyarch Studios released the highly anticipated Season 2 patch for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone. The free update comes with tons of new content for players to check out. Whether it’s Zombies, Multiplayer, Endgame, or Warzone, fans of each and every mode have something new to jump into this weekend. As is tradition, the new season brings three brand-new Multiplayer maps and one remaster, the latter of which is an updated version of Slums from Black Ops 2. There are also three new weapons available as part of the Season 2 Battle Pass, including the REV-46 SMG, EGRT-17 Assault Rifle, and the H311-SAW Melee Weapon. One of which is already raising eyebrows due to its unique type of ammunition.

Black Ops 7 Season 2 Adds New Gun With Ricochet Bullets

The EGRT-17 is one of Black Ops 7‘s newest weapons for Season 2, and is available for free via the new Battle Pass. However, this Assault Rifle comes with a unique twist: ricochet bullets. Treyarch says the EGRT-17 is only second to the Peacekeeper MK1 in terms of fire rate, which already makes it incredibly deadly. However, for those who might struggle in the accuracy department, this new Assault Rifle comes with the added feature of ricocheting rounds to catch enemy targets in the rebound. This means that even if you miss your shot, there’s a chance the bullet may ricochet off the wall or floor and hit your target. The odds might be slim, but it’s sure to result in some annoying deaths for players on the wrong end of the EGRT-17.

As if ricocheting bullets weren’t enough, the EGRT-17 is still an incredibly powerful weapon and is sure to be a fan-favorite among players for Season 2. Treyarch notes how this full-auto Assault Rifle, which has 34 bullets per magazine, deals impressive damage to the body and head. Despite its high fire rate, it also offers highly accurate recoil control. The only downside to the EGRT-17 is that it has a much slower reload time compared to other weapons of the same class. It is, however, worth noting that bullets do reduced damaged once they have ricocheted, but this could still be a worthwhile trick for Hardcore, where health is reduced.

The newest season isn’t all about new content, however, as there have also been tons of bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and general changes. One major part of the new season is updates to Call of Duty‘s anti-cheat system, Ricochet. In a new blog post, Activision said its top priority was launching Ranked Play in Season 2 with “the strongest protection possible.” The studio then explained how it is investing in major technology innovations in its anti-cheat systems and security technology stack. Activision then revealed that it will be cracking down on those using unapproved third-party hardware, such as Cronus Zen and XIM Matrix.

While there’s plenty of new content and positive changes in Call of Duty’s latest season, its ongoing battle with its biggest competitor, Battlefield 6, could soon be reignited, as EA’s shooter is also preparing to launch its next season. While Season 2 of Battlefield 6 was initially set to launch last month, Battlefield Studios announced a delay to the major content update after listening to player feedback. Season 2 will now launch on February 17, less than two weeks after Black Ops 7‘s second season.
