Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 fans are blasting publisher Activision and developer Treyarch Studios for contradicting previous statements regarding in-game collaborations and revealing a new Dave Chappelle bundle for Season 3. The controversial comedian will be added to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone with this week’s big content update, joining the likes of Seth Rogen, Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, and other celebrities to receive their very own in-game Operator Skin.
Season 3 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone is set to arrive this Thursday, April 2, once again bringing tons of new content to both titles. For the former, fans will receive five new multiplayer maps, two of which are remastered from previous Black Ops titles. There are also a handful of new weapons, which will be usable across both games, new events, and the return of Verdansk in Call of Duty: Warzone. For those who are fans of Zombies, Season 3 Reloaded will see the addition of another new map: Totenreich, which is set in a remote Norwegian fishing town trapped in time after Group 935 experiments warped the entire island into the Dark Aether.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Zombies fans seemingly have a lot to look forward to in Season 3, but it still might not be enough.
Call of Duty Fans Outraged by Black Ops 7’s Dave Chappelle Bundle
With Season 3 set to launch later this week, Activision pulled back the curtain on the big content update and also revealed the new Battle Pass for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone. Alongside this announcement also came the reveal of some brand-new store bundles, with one being a new collaboration with controversial comedian Dave Chappelle. More specifically, the bundle is inspired by the 1998 comedy Half Baked, and features a new Operator with two styles, numerous weapon blueprints, a new finishing move, and many other cosmetics. Unfortunately, the bundle hasn’t gone down well with fans, as the community has blasted Activision as “clowns” and “sellouts” for the collaboration.
The reason for the outrage comes after Activision promised the community it would be toning down the unrealistic cosmetic items in Call of Duty and would be aiming to do fewer collaborations moving forward. After cancelling the divisive Carry Forward feature for Black Ops 7, Activision admitted that Call of Duty had drifted from what made the series unique in the first place. “That feedback hits home, and we take it seriously. We hear you,” the studio said in a blog post back in August. It also said that Black Ops 7 needs to “feel authentic to Call of Duty and its setting.”
Then, just last month, the official Call of Duty account said, “We love doing collabs, but we also want them to make sure they are the right fit. Sometimes that means letting a season stand on its own.” Somehow, Activision must believe that Dave Chappelle fits into Season 3 of Black Ops 7 and Warzone.
As expected, fans are outraged by the addition. “What happened to ‘fitting the Black Ops identity’?” one user questioned, while another referred to Activision as “clowns,” and said the studio will “do anything but go back to their roots.” One fan replied by saying, “Let’s stop with the goofy skins; this should not be added.”
Although Activision has most definitely toned down the collaborations with Black Ops 7, this isn’t the first since the game’s launch late last year. Back in Season 1, the publisher revealed brand-new Fallout-themed content for Black Ops 7 and Warzone, bringing some iconic characters from the Amazon Prime adaptation to the shooter. Fans were seemingly unfazed by the collab, as many believed it still fit the overall theme of the game. Dave Chappelle, on the other hand, not so much.
