Adrian has been writing, critiquing, and thinking about games since he first picked up an N64 controller many years ago. These days he writes reviews, news, and features for Game Rant and believes games should be held to the same artistic standards as books, movies, and television shows. When he’s not writing for Game Rant, Adrian writes even more reviews for Sirus Gaming and likes to get nerdy about tech and retro games at HackerNoon. Outside the gaming world, he spends plenty of time enjoying movies or listening to every genre of music under the sun. Follow him on Twitter for nonsense tweets likely related to Dragon Ball Z, or check out Breadhouse Records for some tunes.

A new Call of Duty: Black Ops PS5 update has introduced several technical improvements, but appears to ignore the ongoing party matchmaking issues players have been reporting on. The fan-favorite Black Ops duology from the PS3 era recently received new PlayStation ports, bringing legacy Call of Duty titles to PS4 and PS5 with full multiplayer and Zombies support.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2’s PlayStation 5 port is here, and those looking to get an edge over their competition need look no further than this item.

Call of Duty: Black Ops PS5 Patch Leaves Major Multiplayer Issue Unfixed

On July 17, 2026, the official Call of Duty Updates Twitter account announced another patch for Black Ops and Black Ops 2, which includes fixes for PS5 host prioritization, host migration protection, and controller dead-zone behavior adjustments to more closely match the original PS3 releases. However, the patch notes make no mention of the bug that continues to separate party members, and early player reports on Reddit and Twitter indicate the problem remains unresolved. The Black Ops re-releases have been huge, so it is hard to tell how widespread the issue is, given the massive player base, and reports remain anecdotal overall. Still, complaints appearing both before and after the patch suggest that the update did not include a dedicated fix for party member assignments, nor has the team behind the Black Ops ports formally acknowledged a problem at this time.
