PlayStation 5 gamers have a fresh co-op game to play that also happens to be the highest-rated game of 2026 to date. PlayStation 5 is home to all kinds of fantastic co-op games, with some of the absolute best readily available to play on the system. GOTY winner It Takes Two is available on PS5, for example, as is the follow-up to that game, Split Fiction.
New PS5 co-op games continue to release on a regular basis. The latest co-op game to hit the PS5 is proving to be an especially big hit, and it’s something that gamers on the platform will definitely want to consider picking up to play with their friends.
Big Walk is a New Co-Op Game With Rave Reviews
Big Walk is now available on PS5, and it is getting rave reviews from critics. At the time of this writing, Big Walk‘s review aggregate score on Metacritic is an impressive 92, making it the highest-rated new game release of 2026 so far. Big Walk supports up to 12-player co-op, but it can also be played with just two players, as the game adjusts its content based on lobby size. For those unfamiliar with the game, Big Walk is an open world game where players walk around a large area in search of puzzles to solve that unlock access to more areas and features. It’s a bit more polished than the “friendslop” games on the market, and uses features like proximity chat in effective ways.
One notable drawback is that Big Walk doesn’t have any matchmaking features, so gamers will have to organize play sessions with people they know if they want to experience the game. Luckily, organizing Big Walk play sessions on PS5 should be relatively easy, as players don’t necessarily have to talk their friends into buying the game. Big Walk is one of the free PS Plus games right now, and as long as you claim it by August 31 and stay subscribed to the service, you can keep it indefinitely. Since Big Walk is strictly a co-op experience, it makes a great deal of sense to make it a free PS Plus game, as that should extend its potential player base dramatically.
Big Walk isn’t just on PS5, though. As a matter of fact, Big Walk is also readily available to play on PC and Nintendo Switch 2, and there’s even crossplay between platforms. Big Walk‘s crossplay support should make it even easier to set up co-op sessions with friends, and support for the feature is greatly appreciated.
Big Walk is only $19.99, so its relatively cheap asking price, its availability on PS Plus, and crossplay support should all go a long way. For those that aren’t sold on the game, developer House House previously made the award-winning Untitled Goose Game, so it has a proven track record of making quality puzzle games.
