Larian has officially approved 20 new mods for release on the console versions of Baldur’s Gate 3, and they’re available to download for free right now. The highlights include a new Baldur’s Gate 3 Subrace, various Subclasses, and a powerful variant of God Mode.
Larian continued to update Baldur’s Gate 3 with new content for a while after its release, but eventually confirmed that its support for the game was largely complete. In the end, the hugely successful RPG received no DLC from its developer, which moved on to its next game. However, it did release an extensive set of Baldur’s Gate 3 mod tools, leaving it to talented creators to continue to add new content to the game. On console, these mods need to be vetted and approved by Larian, arriving in fairly regular waves.

For many RPGs, mods play an important role in keeping them alive years after most players have moved on. Perhaps the biggest example of this was Skyrim, which remains active almost 15 years after its release, with a modding community that has managed to completely transform the game. While Larian’s own RPG isn’t quite there yet, it has made an excellent start, with over 18,000 Baldur’s Gate 3 mods on Nexus Mods right now. This makes it eighth on the list of games with the most mods on the platform, achieving this feat less than three years after its release. In time, Baldur’s Gate 3‘s modding community will undoubtedly continue to thrive, with or without the support of Larian.
Last year, Larian revealed that it’s working on a new Divinity game, returning to its own IP after previously working in Wizards of the Coast’s sandbox. The developer claims that it’s going to be bigger than Baldur’s Gate 3, and expectations for the upcoming CRPG will be sky-high coming on the back of the critical success of its most recent title.
