Revelations: Persona was released as a spin-off of the Shin Megami Tensei series in Japan on September 20, 1996, and in North America on December 14, 1996, and its newest 30th anniversary celebration reflects its NA date with a special December 11 release for the franchise. Of course, most fans are likely eager to learn more about Persona 6 since its initial trailer showed so little, but it’ll likely be some time after Persona 4 Revival releases in February 2027.
Most of Persona‘s 30th anniversary releases throughout this year have either celebrated all the Persona games in the franchise or done so for the franchise more broadly, as is the case for the upcoming December 11 anniversary celebration. Which is surprising for some because Revelations: Persona, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment are all somewhat difficult to find nowadays. Perhaps somewhere in everything going on for P3, P4, P5, and eventually P6, the first few games can be revisited in video games as broadly as they are elsewhere too.
Persona Gets Official Cards and Decks in Cardfight Vanguard
Set to release on December 11 is an official collaboration and celebration of the Persona series through Cardfight Vanguard. For anyone unfamiliar, Cardfight Vanguard is a popular TCG in Japan with a few hotspots in other countries. It has been around since 2011 and is a 1-on-1 TCG that spans physical cards, anime TV series, manga releases, and digital video game releases too. In short, players seek to protect their Vanguard while dealing 6 damage to their opponent’s Vanguard through various phases (like the Ride Phase), complete with rows of units, various card types, and so forth.

The Cardfight Vanguard x Persona crossover can be pre-ordered now, depending on nearby retailers and certain availability. It features 90 types of cards, plus parallels, with Booster Packs containing 9 random cards and 1 Display Set containing 10 Packs. Its representation is also spread throughout the series. Core Vanguard decks are built around Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5—the most modern and popular Persona games—while characters from Persona 5X, the Persona 2s, and Persona 1 all appear as powerful support cards. The collaboration is described as a “must-have product for cardfighters and fans of the Persona series alike.”
For newer Persona fans, the collaboration also offers a chance to see some of the series’ older Persona characters and games represented alongside their modern counterparts. Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5 often take up the spotlight, so it’s been nice to see 2026 celebrate the franchise as a whole. That also gives the new Persona crossover a little more meaning for longtime fans who have stuck with every definitive era (Persona 6 era coming soon-ish?).
The Persona 30th anniversary celebration has already included plenty of other projects, but the Cardfight Vanguard crossover is another way Atlus is keeping the franchise in the spotlight throughout its anniversary year. With Persona 4 Revival coming in February and Persona 6 still looming in the background, fans have plenty to look forward to beyond the series’ 30th anniversary.
