Brand-New Resident Evil 30th Anniversary Showcase Confirmed for October 30

Resident Evil has made headlines lately for its recent waves of success, and a new celebratory release for its 30th anniversary has also been announced. Indeed, the Resident Evil franchise has always been popular, but recent news makes that feel like a true understatement.

The Resident Evil 2 remake recently became the best-selling game in the franchise, Resident Evil Requiem is the fastest-selling game in the franchise, and Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil movie is hitting in September. Not to mention, the next remake in Resident Evil: Veronica is set for 2027, and Resident Evil Requiem is rumored to get DLC sometime in 2027, too. It’s easy to forget, amid all this, that Resident Evil celebrated its 30th anniversary on March 22, 2026, but a new showcase to mark the occasion is planned for October 30.

New Steam Game is Like Resident Evil Zero Meets Star Fox

An upcoming Steam release looks like it’ll be a unique and fun melding of Resident Evil Zero and Star Fox.

The World of Biohazard Happens on October 30

world of biohazard event

Capcom has confirmed that the World of Biohazard 30th Anniversary Exhibition is taking place from October 30 to December 24, although it is a limited-time event in Shibuya, Tokyo. Held in the Shibuya BEAM and organized alongside Tohokushinsha Film, the event features several showcases tied to the anniversary and the overall franchise, ranging from areas dedicated to its Protagonists, to the biggest villains in the Resident Evil universe, and to the various developments of Viruses, Parasites, and Fungi in-universe. What’s more, not everything has been revealed, and there are at least four more areas planned for the World of Biohazard 30th Anniversary Exhibition that have yet to be detailed.

General tickets are on sale now, so anyone who wants to plan and book a trip to Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan, to celebrate this anniversary alongside Capcom and its partners ought to do so soon. It’s 3,000 yen for an adult during the week and 3,300 yen on the weekend, which is roughly $19 to $21 in USD. There’s no word that this showcase will take place anywhere else in the world, meaning it’s a once-in-a-lifetime sort of event for diehard Resident Evil fans. Whether or not it’s worth a trip to Japan (for those not local) on its own is up to personal opinion, but as a day trip among other activities, it absolutely makes sense.

Of course, that’s not the only thing going on with the Resident Evil franchise right now. Fans can, by all means, play through Resident Evil Requiem again or play through old favorites as they can at any time, but Resident Evil: Veronica is expected to appear at Gamescom on August 25. That’ll give fans another new look at the upcoming game, and if they are lucky, perhaps it’ll confirm an early 2027 release date. The earlier it comes out, the earlier the rumored Resident Evil Requiem DLC can come around.

Resident Evil: Veronica is said to be heavily changed as a remake, which is understandable given the structure of the original game, yet it is also said that Capcom is confident in the product. That carries more weight in the context of its 30th year doing this, so it’ll be interesting to see what comes next for the Resident Evil franchise regardless.
