Brand-New Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo 64 Game Officially Announced

An upcoming game called Noah and the Poohloudies (NATP) has been announced for the Sega Dreamcast and Nintendo 64, along with several other classic home consoles. The Sega Dreamcast recently celebrated its 27th anniversary on September 9, and, amazingly, its fans still have something new to look forward to in 2026.

NATP is an indie game project led by solo developer Golden Age Turbo. It has been in development for quite some time, considering it was initially unveiled back in 2020 as a homebrew PlayStation-style game. Now, the project has apparently grown into something larger, with NATP getting Dreamcast and N64 ports.

A Brand-New Survival-Horror Game is Coming to the Sega Dreamcast

A brand-new survival horror game is officially announced for the Sega Dreamcast, almost 28 years after the console’s initial release.

Noah and the Poohloudies Coming to Dreamcast, N64, PSX, and More Consoles

Developer Golden Age Turbo recently confirmed that NATP is indeed coming to several retro consoles, including the Dreamcast, N64, PSX, 3DO, and Sega Saturn. Early tests by the developer also prove that the game runs on the Nokia N-Gage, a cellphone-handheld hybrid from the early 2000s. Golden Age Turbo plans to start a Patreon page to help fund the release, but recent teasers indicate that NATP could be in the final stages of development.

In terms of gameplay, NATP appears inspired by classic 3D platformers like the Bomberman Hero series and Tonic Trouble. However, in an interview with Shiro!, the developer said, “If you had to define NATP using already existing projects, I would say Super Mario 64 meets Pokemon meets Tamagotchi.” Despite Super Mario 64 being an inspiration, the developer says NATP won’t focus heavily on 3D platforming and will instead be an adventure game with platforming. Additionally, the Pokemon comparison comes from protagonist Noah’s ability to jump over other robots and capture them, gaining new power-ups.

One thing that makes NATP a special release on the Dreamcast and N64 is that it is being made with a custom-built engine. Developer Golden Age Turbo, whose real name is Walfrido Abejón, created his own video game engine that apparently allows different versions to be developed simultaneously. Regarding the challenges of working with a multiplatform engine, the developer said, “When you make a multiplatform engine, every console has to make compromises… What I manage to squeeze out of each system won’t necessarily reflect its true potential.”

There is currently no specific release window for Noah and the Poohloudies. However, the developer plans to launch a Patreon page for supporters by the end of September. Those interested in seeing new games come to classic consoles like the Dreamcast and N64 can follow Golden Age Turbo on social media and watch his YouTube devlogs for more details on the game’s development. Retro game fans might also want to check out Razing Core, a brand-new shoot ’em up that recently released for the Sega Master System. Like NATP, Razing Core is a homebrew project that runs on emulators and will also receive a physical edition in 2027.

Noah and the Poohloudies is still in development, so some gameplay aspects mentioned in this post may change before release.
