Brand-New Xbox Controller Leaked

According to a new report, Gears of War: E-Day could be getting its very own limited edition Xbox Series X/S controller. Allegedly called ‘Storm King’, this Gears of War: E-Day controller will reportedly feature a striking blood-red color scheme, complete with the iconic Gears of War franchise logo in the center of the controller.

Xbox is certainly no stranger to delivering special limited edition controllers, especially when it comes to tying them in with its first-party releases. Long-time Xbox fans will remember iconic controllers like the Xbox 360’s all-green Halo 3 controller, the elaborate Fable 3 controller, and the shiny metallic C-3PO-inspired controller. These special edition controllers continued throughout the Xbox One’s lifespan, and now six years into the Xbox Series X/S’ career, limited edition controllers pop up more often than ever before. Halo Infinite, Starfield, Forza Horizon 6, and Doom: The Dark Ages are all just a few of the games to have received limited edition controllers in this current console generation.

Xbox is Finally Getting Its Own ‘Platinum Trophies’ Later This Year

New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirms that a new tier of achievements to compete with PlayStation’s Platinum Trophies is in the 2026 roadmap.

An exclusive report from Dealabs’ billbil-kun has just unofficially confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day will be the next Xbox Series X/S game to receive its own limited edition controller. According to Dealabs, this upcoming Gears of War: E-Day controller will be called ‘Storm King’. That name doesn’t seem to link to any previous Gears of War entries, and it’s currently unclear if that title links directly with Gears of War: E-Day‘s story or gameplay content.

Dealabs believes that the controller will retail for $89.99, which is the same price the Forza Horizon 6 limited edition controller sold for back when it launched in May of this year. The release date for this yet-unannounced Gears of War: E-Day controller isn’t known, but Dealabs expects an official announcement from Xbox to come within the next two weeks.

Along with these key details, Dealabs provides a rather thorough description of what the controller will look like (the one pictured above is the Gears of War 4 Crimson Omen controller), with the outlet reportedly receiving a visual of the accessory. According to Dealabs, the Gears of War: E-Day Storm King controller will feature cracked black and red textures that are “reminiscent of fissured volcanic rock.” The entire central block of the controller, including its D-Pad, View, Menu, Share, and Xbox button, will all feature a blood-red color scheme and will be encircled by the Gears of War franchise’s iconic Crimson Omen logo. While the area around the left thumbstick will reportedly be black, the right thumbstick and most of the face buttons will share the same blood-red coloring as the controller’s center area.

The Dealabs report also claims that the level of detail in this upcoming Gears of War limited edition controller “blew [them] away,” and that it equals the Doom controller in terms of being able to integrate the franchise’s visual identity into “every aspect of the design” without “resorting to superficial gimmicks.” If Dealabs’ theory is correct, then fans can expect an official reveal from Xbox in the coming weeks.
