Brand-New Xbox Controller Officially Revealed, Releases in August

Xbox has officially added another controller to its growing lineup of licensed accessories, and this one is a blast from the past. A brand-new controller sporting a transparent green design is on the way, along a plethora of hardware improvements, and it’d be a perfect addition to the upcoming Xbox Series X25 console. For longtime Xbox fans (especially those who grew up with the original console), it’s one of the more nostalgic hardware releases in recent memory.

Xbox’s controller lineup has expanded significantly over the last few years. Between standard and elite Xbox controllers, accessibility-focused options, and officially licensed third-party hardware, Xbox players have more choices than ever before. At the same time, manufacturers including Xbox have increasingly leaned into nostalgia (transparent shells, retro colors, classic designs), and it seems the demand is there. There may be a retro, early-console phase coming up, and that’s plenty of reason to celebrate.

id Software of Doom fame issues a statement following the large round of layoffs the company has suffered as part of the greater Xbox restructuring.

Xbox Gets Brand-New GameSir T7 Pro Retro Green Controller

The new controller is the GameSir T7 Pro Retro Green, an officially licensed Xbox controller launching for $69.99. Compatible with Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Windows 10/11 PCs, and Steam, the controller combines its original Xbox-inspired transparent green shell with modern gaming technology, including Hall Effect sticks and triggers, customizable controls, and RGB lighting.

GameSir T7 Pro Retro Green Features at a Glance

    • Transparent green shell inspired by the original Xbox.
    • Official Xbox licensing.
    • Compatible with Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Windows 10/11, and Steam.
    • $69.99 retail price + Pre-Orders Ship in August
    • Hall Effect thumbsticks (designed to virtually eliminate stick drift).
    • Hall Effect analog triggers with two-stage trigger stops.
    • Dynamic RGB lighting across the ABXY buttons, D-pad, thumbsticks, and rear grips.
    • Two programmable rear buttons.
    • Four rumble motors (including trigger vibration).
    • Laser-engraved textured grips.
    • 3.5 mm headset jack.
    • Customization through the GameSir Nexus software.

Hall Effect thumbsticks use magnetic sensors instead of traditional physical contacts, dramatically reducing the risk of stick drift while extending the controller’s lifespan. The adjustable trigger stops also let players switch between full analog control and shorter trigger pulls (particularly useful in shooters), making the controller just as suited for competitive play as it is for casual gaming. Its tech and price make it a perfect midpoint from a standard Xbox controller and one of the pricier Xbox Elite controllers, especially with the inclusion of back buttons.

The nostalgic shell may be what catches players’ attention first, but it’s clear this controller is designed to be more than just a collectible, as the GameSir T7 Pro Retro Green blends one of Xbox’s most iconic looks with the kinds of features players expect in 2026. For anyone looking to add a little original Xbox flair to their setup, this may end up being one of the year’s most eye-catching gaming releases.
