Breath Of The Wild And Get It Mostly Right

Breath Of The Wild And Get It Mostly Right

Sometimes we get brief reminders that underneath all the money, exploitative labor, and the reality distortion field, rich people are just like us, probably. They go on silly little podcasts and say silly little things that remind you that they’re human, actually, even though they could conceivably be using all that wealth to help people instead of hoarding it. Socialite and businesswoman Kylie Jenner made an appearance on the latest episode of the Therapuss podcast, and I’m sure she talked about a lot of things in the show’s hour-long run, but between all those really important things, she briefly takes a second to describe The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to host Jake Shane, and she pretty much got the gist of it.

In case you have not been “keeping up with the Kardashians” as of late, Kylie Jenner is the youngest of the family of socialites. She’s got a cosmetic line, a clothing line, and recently took up acting in Charli XCX’s mockumentary film The Moment, and much of this is documented in the reality show The Kardashians, currently airing on Hulu. Somewhere in between all this, she’s finding time to save Hyrule in Breath of the Wild, telling Shane that it’s “one of the best games ever.”

When Shane asks the premise of the game, Jenner laments that she’s going to sound like “such a nerd,” but then tells him a quick synopsis of the game. Though she spaces on the name of the Divine Beasts, and someone off-screen throws the whole conversation off by telling her Ganon’s name is “Gandorf,” she otherwise succinctly explained much of the game’s mysterious, post-apocalyptic story, despite still being “kind of new” to the series.

“So, 100 years prior, before you start playing the game, there was this big war,” Jenner says. “The world is like, you know…shambles. Everything is fucked. Then, you get in there and you’re Link, and you’re trying to save the world. And Princess Zelda, even though it’s like, 100 years later, she’s still thriving in the castle. You want to get to Princess Zelda. Were they in love? I don’t know. There’s a bunch of flashbacks. It’s the most intricate- you could be on that game, like, I’ve played for days and hours.”

As of the recording, Jenner had defeated one of the Divine Beasts and was on her way to the second, but she says she’s spent days playing the game and is properly invested. Go, Kylie, go. You’re doing amazing, sweetie.
