There’s a bright future ahead for fans of both Rockstar Games and Hogwarts Legacy developer Avalanche Software, but the present is certainly a bit frustrating. The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 is more painful than ever before, as though the game is just within reach, the frustration over the lack of GTA 6‘s third trailer and the fears of another delay are hard to overcome. Hogwarts Legacy 2 is a different beast entirely, as though it’s all but confirmed for a 2027 or 2028 launch, everything about it is a mystery. From unproven leaks about a multiplayer focus to questions about the presence of quidditch, fans are questioning everything. So, for Rockstar lovers, fans of the Wizarding World, or both, an alternative is needed to serve as a distraction. Enter Steam’s Secret Agent Wizard Boy and the International Crime Syndicate.
Secret Agent Wizard Boy and the International Crime Syndicate has more than an extremely long title going for it. While its premise of being a wizard that doubles as a secret agent sounds like a 10-year-old’s dream come true, as well as a combination of the scrapped game Agent and Hogwarts Legacy, a different Rockstar influence is also noticeable. Because players are free to unleash their spells and spy skills on other students, those with a fondness for the cult classic game Bully could feel right at home. This mischievous vibe blends perfectly with a narrative basically built around parodying Harry Potter, creating a tone that’s all about having fun. And while not everyone hands out perfect scores like candy, any Steam game with the oh-so-valuable Overwhelmingly Positive status is worth a look — especially at such a low price.
Hogwarts Legacy 2 Needs to Finally Make Your House Matter
Whenever Hogwarts Legacy 2 arrives, it will hopefully keep its most requested improvement in mind: deeper Hogwarts Houses.

Bring Some Chaos to Magic School
If a magic school full of teenagers actually existed, it’s safe to assume that things would be a lot more hectic then they appear in the Harry Potter films or the upcoming HBO series. Secret Agent Wizard Boy and the International Crime Syndicate aims to recognize that likely reality by letting players do whatever they please. Some may target other students with spells, while others will focus on their mission: deconstructing the evil crime syndicate S.P.I.D.E.R, which just so happens to be led by a corrupt headmaster named Grumblemort (yes, really). Regardless of whether players want to stick to their mission or destroy their castle, it seems like they’ll undoubtedly enjoy themselves if the 96% positive Steam reviews are anything to go by.
This comedic sandbox game advertises having no safety nets or boundaries, so it certainly seems like players can get into a lot of trouble as the titular agent/wizard/student. Emergent gameplay is king, with the physics system combining with a deliberately dated art style to create a charming vibe that even the game’s developers are aware will be impossible to balance for. Based on the trailer, players will encounter plenty of stealth and puzzle opportunities to put their skills to the test. Things will only become more absurd as extra players join in on the fun, which is possible thanks to four-player online co-op.
Secret Agent Wizard Boy’s Sandbox Will Get Filled With More Toys as Time Goes On
Like many titles with such low price tags, Secret Agent Wizard Boy is launching in early access on Steam, and it’s expected to remain in this state for a year or two. Content will be added consistently through large updates, and includes the following types of additions:
- More castle areas to explore
- More named NPCs with unique dialogue and behavior
- Additional secrets to find within the world
- Additional challenges and story content
- Extra multiplayer modes and stability updates
Currently, there is about 4 hours’ worth of content available in Secret Agent Wizard Boy and the International Crime Syndicate, and the playtime can obviously be extended drastically by beating up on AI students with friends. The game’s developers will be relying on community feedback to shape and improve the game, and like with many other early access titles, they make it clear that a price increase can be extended. So, if fans of old school (or recent) Harry Potter games and the less mature works of Rockstar Games are looking for something up their alley, getting it now while it’s so cheap would be a wise idea.
